| I saw some squirrel ornaments at the store the other day, and got to thinking; wouldn't ballistics gel varmints be fun? Hollowpoints would make some great splats! I wouldn't think it would be that hard to make a mold from a garden ornament and fill it up with gelatin. |

Welcome to AirGunHome Crabapple.
I'm not sure where you live but in the UK you can buy silicon moulds for making garden ornaments, squirrels, tortoises etc, the idea is to fill them with cement and when dry peel off the mould, these would work well with gel.

| I think I'm going to try plastic water bottles filled with gelatin. I want some resistance to deform the pellet and something mushy for it to destroy. Might even put a few balsa dowels in there to act like bones. |

Why don't you dump a few small plastic water bottles filled 80% with water in the freezer overnight? (standing/leave the bottle cap of)
I do that a lot during summer to take with me on motorcycle tours, but I guess shooting at them could be fun in a controlled environment |

Sounds like a good idea!
My main goal is to give something for different pellets to rip apart. I don't kill critters (although I respect others' right to), but I LOVE trying out different types of pellet. |
