Has anyone modified the Benjamin Classic 22 with a Phantom 1000 piston? I am quite dissapointed with the stock velocity on this pretty rifle but have read a few blogs about upgrading with other pistons. Any thoughts or resources would be greatly appreciated  |

Hi.
I think the Classic designates it being a Canadian model, designed to shoot under 500fps so it can be considered an airgun. I assume you live in Canada or some other country with a similar velocity limit?
You would get better results to add a Phantom spring (one NOT designed to give the slow velocities). |

| It is not the spring that is the issue on the Classic .22- it is the piston that needs to be changed. It has been done by a number of people in Canada and works well. |

Yes, the piston. That is what I meant originally. I just need to find a resource for the piston as I am quite confident I could swap out the old one.
Also, I'm having a hell of a time trying to zero the scope. The height adjustment is dialed all the way but the gun still shoot way low. Is it possible I mounted the scope incorrectly? Looks pretty straight forward. Otherwise the gun is quite nice- albeit weak as fook.

The scope's rail mount is fairly straightforward to get on the gun's scope rail (be sure the stop pin in installed and placed in the hole on the rifle tube). Then place the scope within the rings and tighten it down, slowly and evenly, going back and forth between the two clamps so that one is not "loaded" more than the other.
You can purchase a piston/seal/whatever other parts from http://www.scopesandammo.com but for service parts like this you need to email them ('Contact Us' button near the bottom left of the store page). |

do search for all the phantom/quest mod posts, all of them apply as its the same powerplant in the 22 Classic. Its a very easy gun to disassemble/reassemble

This is now (as of 2014) not applicable in all cases. You must determine if your classic was detuned by use of longer piston, vented piston or spring. In my instance it is the spring that requires replacement.
If unsure simply purchase complete Phantom 800/1000 kit from ... you guessed it ... Scopes & Ammo. Not a plug Eric.  I shoulda purchased complete kit rather than trying to save a buck by purchasing piston/seal only. |
