So do you think that 12fpe is about the limit for a .177 lightning? I know its easier to up the fps on .22, but I really prefer the smaller caliber.

I think 15 Fpe is the max in .177 on this particular rifle.

The new Ox spring was actually 1 inch longer than the origonal, that I removed, which was giving me 11fpe. Putting in the New Ox spring with around 10mm of extra spacing in the piston which is the max pre tension I could put in and still be able to cock the rifle. and this just brings me to the 12fpe limit with 7.9gr pellets.

I too can`t understand the lack in power, but like I say the rifle shoots 100 times better and smoother. No left to right recoil and I can hit a coke can at 50 meters.

Maybe someone can explain the lack of power gain. I did put quite a bit of lube every where, but noting too excessive.??

I will take a try at the challange....
you said it was 1" longer than the spring you took out...
but you prob were compairing a set "old" spring with a unset "new" spring
The avarage diffrents between set & unset is around 2"....
So that being said the new spring was infact 1" shorter than the old one...

Yes that does make sence, but I now have say around 20mm of spacing/pre tension in the piston, and don`t think I can add any more due to not being able to cock the rifle. So do you think that a longer spring to take up the space of the 20mm spacing washers will bring up to around 15fpe? So that would be say? 3-4 extra coils on my spring would give me the extra 3fpe?
