New guy here. I recently inherited a RWS 45 that was my grandfathers. The barrel is date stamped Mar. 84. This rifle hasn't been fired in around 20yrs until I put about 20 pellets down the pipe earlier this year. The pellets will penetrate a 1 inch pine board so I'm assuming that it is still in good working order Mr. Green . I would like to do a "tune up" on this rifle but don't know where to start. I know the seals probably need to be replaced and the rifle needs to be oiled. I have checked the Diana web site and downloaded the parts diagram and the owners manual but none of the info I need seems to be in either one. Any advice/help would greatly be appreciated.

Hi....the first thing you will need is a spring compresser....
A tee bar clamp can be used..
As for parts..spring / seal / lubes....go to J Macarri's web site he has most of what you will need... www.airguns.citymax.com
He has tune kits for Diana's
while you have it apart theres a few other tricks you can do...first give the gun a debur on the cocking slot..will stop the new seal being cut by any burs while reasembleing..

It's a beeman scope, Sniper. Should be good for springers.

That 45 is BEAUTIFUL. Amazing the blueing has held up over the years.

The rifle is a .177. The blueing has held up because for the last 20 yrs it has been in a hard side case under the bed in my grandmothers house. Do ya'll think its safe to shoot this rifle as is. I have a RWS kit on order. But I really want to shoot it now! I don't want to hurt the rifle by firing it unoiled or with poss old/ cracked seals. Any opinions?

the reason i ask about the scope is beeman makes scopes "not for use" with springers. because it's a beeman doesn't necassarily mean it's the right one for your rifle. Wink

i'd hate to see you kill a good scope.

I used the Google machine and it looks like the scope is good to go. My grandfather was not the type to count pennies when it came to his hunting gear. I know for a fact that the rifle has taken out quit a few tree rats that were trying to get at Paw Paw's pecans. I'm hoping this rifle will last another 20 yrs and my grandkids will be able to shoot it.

Adam

Oh, the scope is a Beeman Blue Label 66R 2-7*32

If you treat her nicely the only thing that you should ever need is a new spring and piston seal, maybe a breech seal. That would only be necessary if it broke from its extensive use.
