this a sequel to airguneric's question on hunting.
why do you love airguns??
for me it is because they are mathematically, VERY complex. we will never have all of the answers! i was raised on burners. which have their fascination. but they are simple machines.
having test fired today a disco i feel like a kid going to disneyland for the first time! i am on the eve of my first PCP and let me tell you guys! my pants are tight today! .
so, why do you/we love airguns???
i want to get to the "MEAT", pun intened, as to why we all congregate at this awesome forum to be kids again.
no reply too long! |

| Accurate. Cheap. Quiet. Complicated to understand, simple to use. And they're chick magnets. |

I like all parts of it. I can customize them, I can shoot just about any time I want to. I don't have to have a big fancy gun range to shoot them, so I can shoot in my basement. I can shoot anything from cans to spinners and I don't have to worry about downrange as much. They are my toys basically. I am fascinated with them.
I like customizing them. I can make new grips for my 2240 and do anything I want to them. I can checker the stocks and refinish them any way I like. I can make things to customize them with basic hand tools.
I don't have to spend $100 dollars to spend an afternoon shooting them. A day of range time costs me 6 bucks and I don't have to pick up a bunch of brass to keep my range clean.
I don't have a sore shoulder from shooting all day. The most I end up with is a little tiredness in my arms and shoulders from cocking my springer and pumping my disco back up.
I can buy one at my local store without having to get fingerprinted and wait 14 days for a handgun.
That's all I can think of right now, but to me these are pretty good raesons to own one. |

I think probably the "taking me back to my childhood" part.
Also, I've always loved guns. Air and powder burners alike. I have both right now and equally enjoy shooting them all.
I also like the "quiet" aspect. It's like shooting a gun with a silencer on it. Some people kind of laugh at the little "pop" sound my ag's make, but if I had a powder burner with a silencer, they'd think it was cool. So, what's the difference. My ag's come stock with "silencers."
I like to shoot a lot too, so the price aspect of projectiles is nice too. |

I've loved to shoot since I was a kid, my dad and grand-dad taught me gun saftey and shooting starting when I was 4...and I never lost the bug. First bb gun at 8, crossman spring powered 6 shooter bb gun a couple of years later (they haven't made those in decades ). I just always loved to shoot...blame it on my mountain roots plus Roy Rogers, Gene Autery, Hop-along Cassidy etc.
Airguns alow me to shoot and own a wide selection of guns when otherwise (due to lifes other vagaries). You can target shoot in your backyard (most places), you can hunt where legel in urban areas without the neighbors getting crazy...and then as mentioned by others, customizing, compition, etc., etc., etc. I just love air guns! |

| I just love to shoot and this is the best way for me to do it. No expensive gun ranges to go to, no picking up brass, and i can use a piece of plywood as a backstop instead of a complicated steel bullet trap. |

| I was introduced to ag's at an early age, therefore there was an early fascination with them. I think guns in general are cool, but airguns are somewhat cheaper than firearms, and far more easy to shoot recreationally. You don't need to worry about legal issues really, since they are not regulated in the US the way firearms are. And more importantly, I can hunt on my property without my neighbors thinking there is a gang shootout going on. |
