I don't own either, but I suggest you do some forum searchs and see which brand gets recommended more.
Just a though... |

If I remember correctly (which is rare ), the 1250 is an older version and actually does shoot light weight pellets that fast.
The Gamos will (like all Gamos do...) dump light pellets fast, and hit nothing. They will also not shoot heavy hunting pellets with any speed. The D350 will shoot heavier pellets at higher speeds, and won't break or have any Gamo type problems like; horrible trigger, twang, inaccuracy, or other problems.
Get the Diana and be happy. Get the Gamo and make some corporate fat-cat happy.
And most of all, don't buy into Gamo's velocity bull sh_. Shooting 1250fps is nothing if you are doing it with a speck of dust. Shooting 900fps with 14.3gr pellets is power. |

| I believe the Hunter 1250 was sold in North America with the name "Hurricane" on it originally. I believe it has become the Hunter Extreme as it appears to be the only current model that has a 58-pound cocking effort (!), but it is now advertised at 1600fps. Does this mean something internal was changed like the spring or the piston- probably. |

At the time the 1250 was achieved with RWS hobbys. Now Gamo has PBA and it is much lighter than the old hobbys (which weighed less than they do now).
Still go for the Diana... that is if you like fine air rifles, with wood stocks, perfect bluing, almost no plastic, decent trigger, power, and gun-beauty. |

In respect to the original question- that idea of having used Hobbies 'way back when' vs. the PBA stuff currently is a good point- maybe they are the exact same rifle mechically/functionally speaking.
However, I would have to agree with others- the RWS/Diana product is undoubtedly a better one than the Gamo, and let's not forget that raw power is probably one of the less important things to consider unless the only goal is to see how far into a block of wood a pellet will go. |

Maybe you can- is one available used for you to try out? If you can get a deal on it, maybe if it's not perfect you can help make it better. |

I have both and the differences are cosmetic. Both are made by BSA in England....at least up till now. Apparently Gamo, who owns BSA, is moving BSA springer production to Spain which doesn't bode well for QC. It does have the Gamo standard trigger which sucks but is easily fixed. Steve, who designed the original "gold" trigger, which was "borrowed" has released a new and better trigger for Gamos and clones and available from www.airgunsofarizona.com.
The earlier 1250 has open sights while the newer Hunter Extreme has a barrel shroud and a slightly different stock. Both stocks are thick and clunky looking but like the trigger it's not a major issue.
The quality of these guns is every bit as good as the Dianas, the BSA barrels are equal to the Lothars and HW match grade barrels. They have the largest powerplant of any production springer and will smoke any RWS/Diana model from .177 to .25. Gamo is now shipping a .22 Hunter Extreme to be followed shortly by a .25. I have a large collection of RWS/Dianas and tune my own guns. I can tune a 32-33ft.lb. Gamo 1250/Extreme...name a single Diana that will even come close.
Remember, up till now these are BSA's made in England. To compare these to the Spanish made guns is apples and oranges. My $89.00 Ruger Air Hawk (a 34 copy made by Xisico) will easily outperform tuned Gamos. The only springers that come (very) close to the 1250/Extreme in terms of power and accuracy are the Hatsan made Walther Talon/Falcons. They have their own correctible issues. Don't tell me the Webley Patriot/ Beeman Kodiak is more powerful. While technically magnums, they are half a step behind the Walthers. I have a .22 Patriot.
Rich in Mich has tuned more 1250/Hunter Extremes than any tuner in the country and has more than 3 decades tuning airguns. He owns more than 80 airguns. If you want to find out more call the expert. Next month I'm building a .25 Hunter Extreme out of a .177 I picked up at a good price. My goal is to beat 33ft.lbs. I'm having a little competition with my buddy C.A.P. who's starting with a .177 1250. I'm moving in June so this project may drag on for a while but I'll post numbers and links, pix, etc. I DO love my RWS/Dianas and I have some Gamos and clones. My favorite air rifle? My 6.5lb. BSA Lightning XL in .177. It's getting a Theoben air spring next month. I'm brand agnostic. I don't use lightweight gimmick pellets...just lead.

thanks for your detail infos ,
what should i do with this Built-in weaker Spring?? is that just a rumor or real??? ...i know there is another Spring in the box which seems to be diffrent with ones inside the gun! ...sellers say the one inside is default 1000fps , and if u want to make it more powerfull u should rechange the spring .some others say , both are the same ,and shoot 910/1250 .22, .17 lead pellets .
what do u think? |
