Thanks to a buddy & sales... a Mini-Mill is on it's way...
I am getting the shop ready... The spot it is going in is all most all sheet rocked in... Now it is time to build a work bench for it...

30 inchs high its a resamble size.....now yer need a deviding head
to port yer breaks....I made 4 yesterday and started making them out for the ports, after the first one I gave up and desided to make a small deviding head type thingy for the drill press ..not going though that with every break 
I will put 2 rows of holes in the indexing plate...outter row for 2,4,8 ports

I decided to do the bench 8' long x 24" deep x 32" high. I will have to make a catch pan for the cooling oil with a drain to a bucket...
The bench will also have the small drill press on it.
I should have enough materials to do a seperate bench for the HD bench top drill press... It has to be a lower... 28" Deck height... |

Making Room!
Since down sizeing from a 4 bed 3 bath 2000 sf house in 2001... I lost my 2 car garage and what was suposed to be my work shop became storage... Slowly but surely it is taking shap and the crap is on it's way out!!!
This is what it looked like this morning... But with the mill coming... time to make more room!
I am putting up drywall and building new work benches...
Please excuse the mess... I can only do one wall at a time.
Guy is coming over soon to help me pull wire to the north side of the building that is still running on an extension cord...
When we bought this place... The Out building only had one plug and no breaker box.

Joe, i dont envy you at all, i recently hung drywall and built benches in my garage....
great lookin shop thou, youll notice (at least i did) that the bright walls make the place lighter... and (for me) increase productivity |

You can get them in England but the cost is £416.00, which is roughly £ for $, but even at that price not a bad buy.
The only thing about a miller is that the running cost are a lot more than a lathe.

Once the inside is done... Then I need to paint the outside. It's a bit weathered...
When I have pick ups or deliveries... I just tell the them to look for the "baby poop" brown shack...
I have plans on adding on a Side Shed to move the "Must Have" storage stuff into. Then I will have room to start using my wood working tools...

Nice job Joe! I'm envious! Hopefully I'll be able to correct some of that soon.
I wish I could use my 2 1/2 car garage for a workshop. It's against city code to heat them with natural gas, and electricity during a Chicago style winter would cost as much as a mortgage payement!
I really hope with all the tools you've invested in, and know what type of creepoid you have living next door to you, I really hope you've a good alarm on that workshop Joe!
I did notice you are missing a couple of work shop essentials. I didn't see the current Playboy calendar on any wall, nor did I see the mini beer firdge! 
I also wanted to ask this. After seeing that site on building your own custom air rifle, I've been giving it alot of concideration. Once I'm financially capable and I've upgraded most of my welding stuff, and I want to expand my machining type tools. Stricktly for hobby interests, do you think the mini lathe and mini mill by HF would be capable of doing the work as shown over at Air Gun Developement website? |

Hey Jax,
It won't be here till Friday. I have no idea if it is capable yet... A home made AG is one of the things I do want to do... But... it will be a while before I attempt it... I still have 5-6 new products that have to get off the drawing board and into production as well as my regular stuff....
Guy came over today and helped me get the north side of the building all wired up, the exhaust fan permanently wired in with a switch and the north east corner all ruffed in with the dry wall...
We decided to take down some of the hanging storage racks and put some of pack rat storage crap out for a dump run.
I am going to hang the rack up in the well house and move the camping gear out there to make more room.
I have to give Guy credit... He built one hell of a sturdy bench for the mill in the South wall all the way into the South West corner. He has a plan for the re-circulating coolant mister the we are going to mount under the bench.
The next phase of the re-model is to build another work bench for the Drill Press in the North East corner. A computer station and shelving on the North wall.
After this batch that I am working on goes to anodizing I will finish the South East corner and get to work on getting rid of more pack rat stuff on the West wall... That wall has a rinky dink shelves left by the former owner that desperately need to be ripped out and new ones built.
Guy calls my dry wall work a "Rio Linda patch job"... So I am going to hold off on more photos till it is all taped and mudded... |
