| Just bought a Benjamin model 392. Saw at Pyramid Air (http://www.pyramydair.com/p/benjamin-392-pump-air-rifle.shtml) that the model 392 should be stored with one pump to have the seals last. Anyone know about this issue? Someone at Crosman told me that I shouldn't do this and if I do, the seals will not last. Not mentioned in the owner's manual. At this point, I don't know what to do. Comments? |

| Although I have not done significant testing, I always store my multi-pump with one pump in the chamber. Haven't had any problems. |

You don't want those seals to deform and you certainly don't want them to be under extreme pressure either...
New seals I would do 3 pumps and for maintaining 1-2 pumps. |

if you're referencing me derek. my 392 REQUIRES 5 pumps for warranty reasons. AT ALL TIMES!!!
MAC-1 PRINTED DIRECTIONS!
mind you mine max's at 14 pumps=25fpe/kodiaks OR eun jins.
the factory 392 has lower quality "factory" seals..... with other needed upgrades... when i bought mine mac-1 had some to say about the factory defects.
which is why i had it "modded"
i've put up posts on this gun.....
and it is LOUD!!! |

Thanks all for the comments. I received the following information yesterday from Crosman re this issue and my Benjamin model 392:
"No you should not leave air in any pump gun for longer then a few hours. If you leave the gun pumped then you are leaving the seals compressed and after a while they will not bounce back to the way they need to be. At one time along time ago Benjamin used to recommend that but things like materiel have changed and it is not good to do anymore."
Any comments on this info from Crosman? If I get any additional info, I'll pass it along.

Info recently received from Pyramid Air on this issue:
"Dear Sir,
First I looked at the manual, and it didn't mention about pumping 1 time when putting gun away. However, I double checked with another tech and he says that it is recommended to leave the rifle with a pressure of 1 pump after you're done with the shooting. It will keep the seals from drying it out, because seals will be blocked by pressure. Also it's safe for the seals to have a 1 pump pressure, it's not gonna damage the seals."
Crosman, the manufacturer, said not to store with one pump or the seals will not last.
I would think that Crosman's recommendation would be the one to follow. Comments? |
