Got some .20 cylindricals for the old girl and at 15 pumps she went 35 yards through 1/4" of fence and 15 more yards- into a car fender- which had an authoritive dent in it.
With the simple iron sights she gave me about 1-1/4" groups at 35 yards. You guys can chalk me up for a starling too- it died of lead poisoning at 40 yards, the pellet went straight through. The bird sitting on the top branch fell straight down and I saw the now slow moving pellet for a second in the sky. |

Did you use this one Fritz?
I shot one once in the eighties but went for the HB-20 then, the rifle is still on my wish list |

No, that's a blue streak. That is also a newer model, it doesn't have the thumb-rocker safety, meaning it was made by Crosman. The foregrip/pump arm is also the new shape, mine is straight.
Actually, I have a feeling that is a 392/397 down there. |

I don't understand the question. I just pump it... It dumps about 14 and keeps one left.
EDIT: I tested it and put 25 in at once, it dumped about 15. They must not be made like they used to now. |

factory is supposed to be 8. so i understand.
as with pumpers, you damage the seals by going over.
the specs on mine are:
anything over 14 can hurt the gun and reduce velocity.
you might be killing her soflty!!! |

I suppose I'll have to use 10 pumps now. I really think that she was built to last. She holds 2 pumps of air for many months without a problem (haven't stored for longer).
We are talking about a classic thumb-rocker safety, so she is old. |

Haha, she puts out more than 10fpe. Didn't I say that she went 35 yards, through 1/4 of pine, then 15 more yards and left a nice dent in some sheet metal.
I set up some old water bottles that are shaped more like cylinders, about a foot tall. Sent a pellet sailing through the whole length (put the bottle on its side) full of water. This is at 30 yards.
EDIT: Judging from the dent in the metal, the pellet was still moving straight, not tumbling. |

| Bob, would you happen to know how to remove the pump arm wood? The stock on mine is in about 70% and I would like to strip-sand-stain-finish her up real nice. |

Yep,
Just tap out the two roll pins with a drift punch. Its best to do this across your lap/legs.When putting them back in taper the lead edge on the roll pin so it slides in better and helps guild it into the metal pump arm hole..
