Hello guys,
so i bought a new pistonseal for my quest 1000,
it's a gamo tesla seal made by maccari.
since i got a new chrony i'm kinda tinkering with
it a bit to see if i can get any more juice out of
this gun. you guys must know what i mean .
after i finally got the darn thing on the piston i
noticed that the seal was not flush with the "button"
on the piston, like my factory seal was. they are
the same diameter though.
is this a bad thing? i'm a noob at tuning these rifles
so i thought i'd post it on the forum before i
really screw it up.
also i got some piston buttons too. i'm curious to see
how the gun will fire after i install everything and lube'r up . |

Welcome aboard Terry!
Aftermarket piston seals are often a bit oversized because they have to go with several different rifles. I think you'll have to size it down a bit.
How? I think other members will help you with that. |

Thats all good most of my guns have the seal potruding passed the button
1 or 2 mill.....
May be a bit quiter if you are unlucky enough to
dry fire it. |

It's supposed to be like that otherwise the piston button would slam in to the compression chamber end on each shot, by sitting proud the seal act's like a shock absorber.

But do avoid very light pellets and never dry-fire - cushioning is good; mashing is bad.
I suppose if there were metal-to-metal contact between the piston and the cylinder head you could eventually hammer the transfer port closed. |
