Come my birthday, I've warned my wife I want to get a better pistol than the Crosman 357. Within my "price range" would be a custom Crosman 2300T and maybe the new IZH-46M that airgun depot has a good price on. Which would be the better purchase for a target pistol?
What are people's experiences with these? |

The 2300T seems to be pretty good out of the box. We have a forum member who just bought one, and I'm sure that one it's in, he'll be able to give you a few review.
Can't say anything for the Baikal though. |

| I just got a 2240 for under $60 bucks which I'm really happy with. I bet the 2300 wouldn't let you down either. |

I just bought a 2300kt Crosman custom. I went with a longer 14" barrel, steel breach, no rear site, stock grips, trigger shoe. Unbeknownst to me, it came with an adjustable sear spring and trigger stop as well. Both are nice surprises. With shipping this ran me just shy of $100.
I did order mine in .22 caliber. I noticed that you're looking for something for target shooting. If all you plan on doing is putting holes in paper, and not doing any hunting, I'd recommend getting a custom in .177 caliber. Mainly because Crosman offers a 10" match barrel in that caliber.
I think the main thing that makes the 1377/2289/22xx/2300x series most attractive. Is the number of aftermarket parts you can buy and install. I liken to what's avaible for a Colt 1911.
Just take an internet stroll over to Airgun Artisans and take a look at the pictures and parts descriptions over there. And you will see what I mean.

A (modded) Crosman also makes you a MAN. |

From what I've seen in the weekly competition topics the IZH is difficult to shoot. I've got a few Crosmans and the SSP-250 performs good. Ordered it's successor 2300S last Saturday, hope that one will out perform the SSP 250. Printed a few extra copy's of this weeks target to compare as soon as I receive the 2300, hopefully the end of this week.
Go for the Crosman
They perform good without modding and a lot of stuff available if you want to do some modding after a while. |

| Thanks for all the replies. I have to agree the Crosman is cooler looking, and I don't need to complicate my life with a gun that is difficult to shoot.[/code] |

My remark was based on:

Please join us in the weekly competition, I'm sure that would get the IZH a better rep on this board. |
