after a few emails back and forth, i have decided to go ahead and put one of these on back order, in .22 please and thank you. its a pricey gun, but from what i've read, its worth the money.
the gal at PilkGuns said the wait should be about 6-8 weeks, but couldnt or wouldnt guarantee a date.
according to the info that she gave me, it is capable of 30 fpe and greater.
shes not exactly certain what colors she will be getting in stock, and i'm not certain if i want the black or the silver, guess i'll decide based on what she gets. |

i'm gettin very tired of waiting. and for 1/2 the price i'm thinkin bout gettin an FX Whisper .22 or for about the same price as the steyr gettin the 80ft lbs version of the daystate air ranger.
anyone have experience with either of these? |

| Jesus... when a FX is half the price of another gun... the other one is expensive. I doubt the Steyr is worth the money. |

I have shot a couple of mags using an Air Ranger and it is a very nice piece of kit, a very smooth bolt action and easy to change the magazines, we were shooting over a 30m range and it was spot on each shot, my only complaint was the weight, it’s a heavy gun about the same as my TX so it didn’t bother me, but you may find it a problem if you are not used to a weighty gun. One other thing I didn’t like was the price.
The same night I was shooting a Weihrauch HW100 and I think I would go for one of them myself, partly because of price and I don’t like that big bottle hanging on the front of the Daystate.

fritz, the Steyr is a hair under 2 grand. supposedly its worth the money, a really sweet shooter. and i like the idea of all that billet aluminum.
Al... do you recall what version of the daystate you shot? its my understanding that the 80fpe version uses a choked .223 rimfire barrel, and shoots boat tail lead. i also found a couple places that make beefier shrouds for the daystate to quiet it down even more. given the area i have to shoot in, i need quiet. |

It was a .22 running at about 11.5 fpe, and fitted with a silencer UK spec, very quiet, but if your using 80fpe then it will be loud, they do indeed shoot a super 40grain solid air bullets and a teflon coated 50grain for the .25, there is talk of them pushing the standard 16grain up to 1750fps.
The 40g and a 39.5g hollow point air bullet

You obviously never held, or shot one. I've seen groupings at 50 yards from an old guy who never held a rifle before with one of these. You wouldn't believe it if I showed you, but it was UNDER half an inch.
By the way, Steyr makes the best barrels in the world, and their name stands for much more then quality. If there is one thing the Austrians can do like no other country in the world, it's building guns. They've probably got the longest quality air-rifle history in the world anyway.
Daystates are pretty darn good too, but with that being said, I heard they are overpriced a bit. I held one, but never shot one. I'm not sure which model it was, but finish was terrifique. |

STILL waiting to hear about the Steyr....... i just cant seem to get the idea of owning one out of my head... all that billet...mmmm
but... i do already have a 30fpe gun, and kinda wanted something more powerful, hence the idea of the Daystate. but if i went with an FX i could also get a big bore 9mm or larger all for the same $$$ as the Steyr.
decisions decisions......... |
