Redondo Beach police released a composite sketch Tuesday of a man suspected of trying to kidnap a woman after asking her for directions.
The illustration, created from the woman's description, shows a Hispanic man in his 30s with dark hair and a goatee.
Sgt. Peter Grimm said the suspect was driving a white van on Jan. 3 when he stopped the vehicle to ask a woman walking on the street for directions. He spoke with a Spanish accent, Grimm said.
As the woman approached the van to give directions, a man sitting in the back of the van opened the sliding door, got out and grabbed her, he said.
Grimm called the attempted abduction "bold" because it happened relatively early, at about 6:25 p.m. on the corner of a fairly busy intersection, Green Lane and Grant Avenue.
The woman hit the attacker with her purse and ran away screaming. Officials did not

have a description of the second suspect.
"She did everything right," Grimm said. "Under no conditions would you get into a car with somebody."
The van was unusual because it had a window in the sliding side door, Grimm said.
After the woman ran away screaming, the van drove east on Grant Avenue and then fled down a side street, Grimm said.
"It is pretty bold," Grimm said of the kidnapping attempt. "So there's an eerie feeling that there could be others."
Grimm said officials did not release the sketch earlier because they had to wait for a sketch artist to become available.
Police are asking anyone with information about this crime, the suspects or any possible additional crimes involving the suspects or the van to call Redondo Beach police Detective Fabian Saucedo at 310-379-2477, Ext. 2481.

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall an email update that I recieved from the NRA. It stated that California did in deed have a conceled carry law, with such stringgent restrictions, only a dozen or so people have one. The crux of the matter was Pelso, and ardent antig-gun idjut whom apposed any such law, was one of the first and only ones to actually get a concealed carry licnese in that state. |
