Sorry about the cruddy picture, but it had turned dark quickly and I didn't have time to set up anything more pretty.
The squirrel fell from one shot at 20 yards with Benjamin Discovery pellets. I'm really liking this gun. The stock sights aren't nearly as bad as I thought they would be, but they don't lend themselves to fast shots very well, especially in low light. I may try to paint a dot on the front sight or something to help find it a little better. Anyway, it works very good right out of the box. |

Yea i have the .22 caliber one.. Dont know if thats the one you have
I have shot 4 squirrels so far and the other day i shot a blue jay from 45 yards out. Put the range finder on it. I also have a scope on mine tho |

The one I have is the .22 version also. I've thought about putting a scope on it, which mounts did you use? Does it make it much harder to pump?
It seems like I put my hand right where a scope would be when I pump it. If I try to hold it by the wrist, it makes it harder to pump. I suppose I could adjust though.

I put a scope on my .177 cal. and it was right where I put my hand,if I put my hand around the pistol grip I could not pump.
So I took a peice of 1/4'' aluminum bar 1'' wide,about middle ways I bent it to give clearence to my fingers.Now I can hold the pistol grip and pump it very easily.
I can't post a picture of of the mod cause I dont have a web storage for photos. |

I used the B727 mount or something like that. They are 4 piece. They work great. It was sort of hard to pump at first then i figured out to put my hand right behind the front sight and use my legs as a stabilizer. It is probably easier to pump now. I got my mounts from academy and if you do get them then make sure you tighten them real tight. They seem loose at first but you have to like bend the screw and they tighten perfectly. |

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I'll try out the new method of pumping to see if it's something I could get used to.
Sniper,
I was using the 14.3 grain Benjamin Discovery pellets with 8 pumps. Idealy, I'd like to find something a bit heavier, but it seems to like these. Not sure if it's the weight or the pellet design that it likes but here's my findings with the pellets I have tried so far;
Benjamin Discovery (14.3gr.) shoots a 1.5 inch group @ 30 yards.
Beeman Crow magnum (18.20gr.) shoots a 2 inch group @ 30 yards.
Gamo Hunter Domed (15.3gr.) shoots a 2.5 inch group @ 30 yards.
Predator Polymag (16gr.) shoots a 3.5 inch group @ 30 yards.
Daisy wadcutters (14.3gr) shoots a 3.5 inch group @ 30 yards, but only if you hand pick the most uniform ones.
All groups were shot with 8 pumps and with a very slight tail wind and from a rest. I may play around with the rear sight a bit to see if I can get a better sight picture (I usually like a 6 o'clock hold) but since these groups were shot under ideal conditions, it won't make the group size shrink any, but it will make it a bit faster on point for me. |

| i'm curious to see what mine groups with kodiaks @14 pumps. i've not had it out of my backyard yet. i assume for mine, kodiaks would be accurate since they are heavy and develop the most power. mac-1 said the tuned 392 does well with 28 grain eun jins. haven't bought those yet..... |

I've been having trouble seeing the front sight in low light conditions. The rear sight is black, the front sight is black, and when the light gets low, squirrels look black too... So I tried putting some red nail polish on the front sight. Today was the first time I've had a chance to see if that helped. It didn't help much...
But, I figured out a solution! I pulled out my pocket knife and scraped the nail polish and the blueing off the front sight, uncovering the very bright brass underneath! It seemed to almost glow after that.
I wish I had figured that out earlier in my hunt this afternoon. I had a raccoon 10 yards away, a cottontail rabbit 30 yards away, and three squirrels within spitting distance! It's rare to see a raccoon around here, especially during daylight hours. Rabbits are also pretty rare, I think I've seen three of them in several years of living here. |

| i agree with the sights. i don't think the stock model is near enough power for coon though. i think your around 13fpe @ 8 pumps. |
