ok i know have acsess to a full machine shop, so im wondering is there any thing i can do to my air hawk to make it better? if so what are the basics to doing it?

Bayou,

So far you're about the only one that I know that has the Ruger Air Hawk. Although I'm getting ready to purchase a different air gun right at this moment, I'm curious what's your oppionion of the Air Hawk?

I'm only asking this because a local vender near me has miss priced the Elite version of this rife for the same price as the standard Air Hawk.

i love it! it shoots strait and has the power to kill anything i want to kill, ive fired 4000+ rounds thru it without any problems. i would recommend getting it.

bayou I wouldn’t have thought your Hawk require any machining seeing as it’s fairly new, but what do it a world of good is a lube and trigger job. Myself I’m not familiar with that particular model but I’m sure someone will come along who is.

I have the Ruger Air Hawk. It is an exact copy of a RWS 350 with smaller dimensions. The trigger assembly is a true exact copy of the latest version of the RWS/Diana trigger (TO5?).

I did a complete tune using Jim's RWS 34 spring and piston seal which fit perfectly. I didn't buy the complete tune kit as the spring guide may not fit. Your trigger will polish to a bright silver color.

Like the 350, there is a metal sleeve that the spring fits into which in turn slides into the piston. There is a small bump or elevated area near the sleeve's opening which forces you to turn the spring to fully seat it or in other words screw it in. Flatten the bump and grind or sand it smooth or you will notice the 34 spring binding slightly during cocking as the coils slide over it. Also, the same sleeve or tube has a rough bottom for the spring to ride/twist on so I ground and polished a washer to fit to provide a smooth surface for the spring to sit on.

With a decent spring compressor, Jim's lubes, seal, and spring, it is very easy to work on. My new chrono hasn't arrived yet so I couldn't get any before and after numbers. It is much smoother, quieter, and the firing cycle seems shorter...just a quick solid thunk. I have some info on a detailed RWS trigger tune which I just got. Contact me if you want a copy. While the RWS barrels have a very slight choke I don't think the Ruger does. That came from another Ruger owner who chopped his barrel, recrowned it and added a nice muzzle brake. It looked good. I believe BAM makes the Ruger.
