Hey guys. Just wanted to share some grouping pics from my 5 yr old(he'll be 6 in Feb.). Started him off with a Daisy Buck about 3 months ago and just a few days ago he recieved his Mac1 prepped 2260. He's been begging me for the past 2 days for a scope and bipod. I think he's going to see a Crooked Barn breech and bolt and a barrel shroud soon. I already have a 4x32 scope for him just need intermounts or the Ultimate Breech. I do have to say that Mac1 does an excellent job. I do not have one complaint and my son will not put it down! The trigger is light and crisp and the rifle is very accurate at the ranges we shot it at so far. Its a little heavy for him on the muzzle end but only affects his accuracy after he's shot it for a long time. Exceeded my expectations of a $80 base rifle. Been using Crosman Premiers 14.3 gr pellets. Sorry I dont have a chrony yet. Anxious to see what it does further out with a scope.
The little guy has been getting the basics about shooting from me since he got the Daisy a while back. His Uncle Fred has been giving him some expert lessons. He's a retired Marine, Vietnam Era, expert marksman. I have taught my son various holds and shooting positions along with basic breathing control. His Uncle Fred has taught him Natural Aim, Advanced breathing, the 'quick kill method', Kentucky Windage, and basic tips about calmness and patience.
Ill get video of him shooting once I clean out my camera. Good times and good shooting. Nice clean family fun. His Uncle Fred was getting a real kick outta seeing him shoot and he took all the lessons and tips in stride. Like a normal kid he got into rushing his shots and falling back into his bad habits(ie. finger on the trigger when not firing, 'canting' the rifle etc) but as soon as his shots werent hitting where he wanted them to he corrected himself and slowed down his shot pace.
Crosman 2260 Mac1 prepped open sights
Daisy Buck(top) 2260(bottom)
Daisy Buck grouping @ 10yds. This was his first time shooting at this range in the seated position.
2260 grouping from 15 feet. After learning the new sights he shot these 10 shots with 3 in the big hole. Shot from the prone position.
2260 12 shot group @ 10 yds. First shot missed the target entirely! Shot from the prone position.
My son and his Uncle Fred having fun with the 2260 from 10 yds. They were trying to make the biggest hole they could on 1 C02 cart. |

| How is he for cocking it? I've been thinking I shoould get one for my daughter (who is 5). Wal-Fart sells them for around $20.00 so it's not much of a loss if she doesn't like it... |

Smart-a$$! She can't hold anything that large- the Buck is a very short rifle. She's only 5 for Chrissake! |

AirGunEric- It is surprisingly a lot harder to cock than I expected. Also my son is a big 5 and he had a hard time getting used to it. I started off cocking it for him for a while then stopped. Usually if kids want to do something bad enough they'll find a way to make it happen. I dont regret buying it though. It will pretty much shoot where you aim it inside of 15 yds. Plus you just load that baby up with BB's and shoot till you get tired from cocking it.
Kanyon- See now that is not playing fair!!! Here's how the conversation would go-
Daughter- "Daddy?"
Father(aka Eric)- "Yes dear?"
Daughter- "Is the Condor broken or something?"
Father- "Not that I know of honey"
Daughter- "Is that scope thingy broken?"
Father- "No honey, I dont think so? Why do you ask?"
Daughter- "Becuase you said I could shoot it once you sighted it in."
Father- "Im sorry honey, sometimes these things take time"
Daughter "I know daddy. I just figured since I am 7 now you might let me finally shoot it!"
Father- "Well what happened to that $20 thing I bought you from Wal-Mart?" |

1. Are you talking about my son?
2. Is that a compliment?
If so, thanks??? Im afraid he's already 'cocky', but thats his daddys fault. I tried my best but I think its in the genes...Sorry. You being in NL and me being in Hawaii..."cocky bastard" must change its meaning along with the time zones. Here you usually leave those choice words for someone whose not particularly in your good graces...Like my co-worker from the Southern U.S. likes to say "Them's fightin' werds ther'" |

Of course it's a compliment! If you have something like that to brag about... Don't take it to seriously! You should see our gay-joke threads... Besides, anything with a smiley should be read with a teaspoon of salt. |

cw- He doenst have the patience yet. Last time he tried he sat there for about 10 minutes then cleaned his rifle and played with his Wii. Go figure. He was asking about target shooting with kids his age though. I will have to find out if there is a club over here. BTW my son thinks its the coolest thing in the world that I could put the pictures here and everyone could leave comments on how good/bad he can shoot. He told me Im the 'best Daddy in the world'. I told him to save that for about 10 yrs down the road!!! If only they would stay that young.... |

I got a pair of the Buck's at WM- one for my daughter and one for me so she doesn't feel like she's being given something different/odd than what I'd play with. These things are surprisingly hard to cock for what they are!
Of course, it's too long for her to get up against her shoulder and reach the trigger (she's a bit small for 5).
Good luck in 10 years branz- I'm pulling for you! |
