I just recently purchased a benjamin pump 392 and i am shooting iron sights at the moment. I havent killed anything yet and hope to get a squirrel with it and i am accurate enough to get one but i still am nothing near deadly accurate. I am wondering if it would be worth my time to get a scope on it and if so what mount should i get because i noticed there is a variety of adapter mounts..

The scope is entirely your own choice. If you can't see well do to aging eyes or a vision problem, it may help greatly. If you see A-Ok and can use the iron sights then you may not gain anything.

Beyond that, the Benjamin/Crosman B272 mounts should work fine for mounting a scope, and are probably the cheapest option available as well at around $15-20 retail.

IMO... Scope it... Then again... I am over 40 and they say eyesight is the first thing to go.... Wink

It might be good advice to get a scope with mildots or those stripes (target stripes? anyone?). If you have got the scope horizontally zeroed, you can use the vertical dots for vertical targeting depending on the number of pumps. Wink

Another option would be a red-dot sight. Eye relief wouldn't matter if it were one without magnification - you focus on the target and look right through the sight. I have one on a pistol, and it is much easier to use than the open sights. It comes on target quickly, and centering a dot is easier than aligning fuzzy lines.

I wouldn't buy one of those $8.00 USD Daisys, though. Get one with adjustable brightness. Aiming with a blazing fireball indoors is not very rewarding.

Yeah, I like the red dot idea. I thought about that since I would be able to set the red dot more forward and keep it out of the way of where I grab the gun for pumping.

I've got a $25.00 USD BSA from Cabela's on my Marksman 2004. A few things I've learned:

The dot is pretty big - 8 MOA. I can break toothpicks with my Slavia+4X scope at 10m, but a red dot would never aim precisely enough. On the other hand, it works well outdoors on pop cans/bottles.

Even with adjustable brightness the dot is sometimes too bright indoors, and sometimes washes out in bright sunlight outdoors. I have a Browning Buckmark with the same setup. I went to the local glass place and got a scrap of smoked plexiglass, which I cut into a circle that fits under the scope cap. I guess I have a gun with its own sunglasses.

This unit has a lot of parallax error (the dot moves as you move your head). On the 2004 I scraped the paint off the rear rim of the lens bezel to create a visual reference circle. That way I can center the dot each time. The "cheek weld" on a long arm might make this less of an issue. Also, more expensive units belonging to friends don't have the parallax problem, so I guess you get what you pay for.

This is the closed cheapo NcStar... It is okay... and works better in than my open one on my 1088.

The open NcStar one does not work well in broad daylight... The light just washes out the dot no mater the intensity setting I have it on...

Feel free to keep posting more pics and info. This is way better than some dumb catalog or me just running out and trying to pick out the right sighting device.
