ok I've read about how they get unstable due to the velocity, but what do you guys think is the max effective range for these things?? I have a gamo bigcat, and the few squirrells I've shot were stunning deaths..............so any ideas??

I think that they are a gimmick to appeal to younger,
uninformed shooters. What good is velocity without
accuracy? Accuracy and applicable energy are usually
the objectives in high performance airgunning.

I certainly understand the trade offs, I'm just a velocity junky, and the kills I've made with the PBA were outstanding Smile

hey CW I understand you own a airforce condor??? I'm thinking of getting one and had a question, once the pcp tank is full, is it true that you only need a few pumps with the airforce pump to bring it back to full again??

It takes about 180 strokes to get it back up to 3000 psi
from a little under 2000 psi. The last 10-15 strokes are
the hardest, requiring around 170+ lbs of downward force.
But, it is so worth it, once it is up to pressure.

From a full fill, I get 25 shots on high power (65+ fpe) and
160+ shots on low power (19+ fpe). For pest control I can't
think of a more versatile airgun.

If I were limited to one gun, it would be a Condor.

CW, what does 65+fpe do to a squirrel?

It'll probably just pass trough. 19 Fpe is a lot for a Squirrel to take in the first place. Mr. Green

Superdomes at 30 fpe would be a better choice, out to 60-70
yards. 65 fpe with Eun Jin domes would be more suited to 150+
yards.

ok I'm second guessing my need for speed, I shot a squirrelle today with a 22 rimfire, CB cap with 29grains bullet at about 710fps, from the computation on the main page it had about 32fpe, and I'm sold that I dont need all the speed, just better accuracy, now I really cant wait to buy that condor and NOT need to crank it up to high power all the time

I've never hit a single target with them, but then again... I've never fired them at anything either...

The only thing I use PBAs for are my co2 pistols. I would use them in lower power guns, but I choose something else for hunting.

I tried them and I couldn't get a good group no matter how hard I tried. The rifle I used likes heavy pellets anyway, the heavier the better. I usually stick to crosman ammo though, because that's what my local dealers carry. I think my local gunshop keeps them there for me because they always have a couple or 3 tins of each. He is a nice old guy and he has given me lots of advice on rifles. He loves my discovery and he keeps trying to talk me into selling it to him.

You're beating your gun to death with PBA's and similar light pellets. You should use medium to heavy pellets in your Gamo.
