Hi AirGunEric!
It appears that you have added an Advert to the top of the actual forum page!
I think this new Advert is OK.
The forum is going to have to make some $$$ somehow and I think this is going to be the most realistic way to do it.
But just don't add them to the sides of the forum please!!!

Yup. Google-based ads. Unfortunately, we have no control over what is displayed- so sometimes some weird stuff pops up on/in them.
I personally would prefer a direct "sponsor" who pays an amount per month for the space on the forum (which wouldn't be a "give away"). Typically, this sort of ad would be more directly relevant to airguns, not just "shooting" and whatever else Google sticks in there.
No, no side banners or ads are being planned at this point- horizontal screenspace is limited and if someone is not viewing the site in the recommended resolution mode of 1024x768 or higher, and still using 800x600 because their computer is older or they need a bigger size in order to read things- adding side banners would make the forum absurdly difficult to use effectively. |

I've been watching the ads now for a couple days- Google is kinda funny. In the thread where guitars is mentioned- a music store ad popped up!
Then, in BS Topics, where I assume someone used the word "porn" somewhere in a post- a "Is your spouse looking at porn online? Get the newest system monitor..." ad popped up.
Maybe those Google guys need to look more for a balance of terms. We've been seeing a lot of ads for pneumatic equipment and air cleaners because of the preponderance of the phrase "air" gun, and more generalized gun stuff has popped up- but I wonder how long it takes their system to fine tune the ads to match a site's content a bit better? |
