| He did use a .22 actually, so I guess he was doing it right. Must've just grazed the tree rat then. All you can do is go back and refine your shot and work to improve your marksmanship. This sort of thing happens to hunters occasionally, you just have to deal with it and learn from it. |

fritz, yes they make predators in .22, my super streak likes em alot. they are 16.5 grain. not to be insulting, but i seriously doubt it is the guns fault, my super streak took me some time to shoot accurately with. it being such a large long rifle, it seems to require a hold all its own.
i promise you, a solid head shot from this rifle, they will NOT climb back up a tree.
when practicing shooting targets or cans or whatever, try your best to emulate how you will be shooting in the field. you may be surprised how inaccurate you are in "realistic hunting" positions.
cheers,

Can squirrels scare themselves to death by the way? In that case, you could also use a big bore Airgun without ammo. Instant heart attack. Used to work with mice over here.
BANG! Squeek! Flops... |
That actually sounds kind of cruel. Best to use ammo when killing animals wouldn't you think? |

| I feel nothing for squirrels. They are my enemy, I or the enemy must die. I refuse to die. The squirrels must die. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! I am the one with the gun, I have the advantage. |

You must be my long lost brother.
To be totally transparent...I really would have no problem shooting a squirrel in the stomach with a .177 cal wad cutter and watching him crawl off and die a couple of days later all alone. |

| I wouldn't do that because then I'd lose the kill. If they die in the nest then it forces the others out and it is not good for the population in general, I do want them to stay around so I have something to hunt. |

Exhale man, exhale. I am so messing with you and having fun and you're ripping your garments and putting ashes on your head. |

Squirrels populate as needed. If they detect a decline in numbers, they procreate. If their numbers are too high in an area, they have less offspring. It's just the way squirrels work. |
