Hey guys did you all know that rws makes the airhawk for ruger? I downloaded the rws catalog and there is a section that talks about how ruger has come to them in order to partner up and make an air rifle. I was gonna get an rws 34 but after finding out they took part in the ruger and being that ruger is my favorite gun manufacturer I'm thinking I may get the airhawk. Its only 179.00 and has a nice dark wood stock with thumbhole and cheek rest and comes with a scope. What do yall think? Btw..I've decided on .177 for those who took part in my last topic.

"RWS" was a company that had the importing rights for some of the European airgun manufacturers (most notably Diana/Dynamit Nobel). 'RWS' has become "UmarexUSA"- again an/the import agent in the U.S. for Umarex as well the other products- i.e. Diana.

"RWS" has had nothing to do with developing new products- Umarex A.G. (European Umarex corporation) has, and UmarexUSA has branded the Ruger AirHawk as an "RWS" product for sale in the U.S.

Do not, however, let the name fool you- Ruger has basically rented it's name to Umarex for the purpose of building an air rifle- they have absolutely nothing to do with it, what it is, or how it operates. The website is craftily leading people to believe Ruger actually had something more to do with designing/building the rifle than they did. All Ruger did was agree Umarex (and UmarexUSA in turn) could use their name. If Ruger decides they will also sell it as one of their "own" products that would be completely different than any of the other firearm manufacturers who have their name on airguns. As examples of a similar situation, you don't see Remington selling the AirMaster77 to their dealers- they leave that to Crosman- who also designed, built and labelled the AM77- which is a Crosman 2100 with a black stock. Then their is the "Winchester" products designed, built and sold by Daisy. Winchester has nothing to do with that product either other than renting their name to Daisy.

That being said, the AirHawk is not a new rifle- it's been out for awhile. Stick with the RWS/Diana Model 34 and you'll be happier at the end of the day in my opinion.

It's kind of a dirty game. If they would make airguns that are replica's or look like/have features from Ruger, or Winchester or whatever, then it wouldn't be that bad. Neutral

What would you do then?

I've found a local store that's missed priced a half dozen Ruger Air Hawk Elite Combo's for the same price a standard Air Hawk combo retails for around here. For that means about a $60 pricing error and I don't have to worry about shipping charges, even if the price is $129.99.

I've had to stow my 1077 for the duration of the winter. Co2 and the temps hovering just above 0F ain't gonna cut it! So, with a few extra dollars I have left over from selling stuff on craigslist I could get that Elite combo....or

Buy the 2250 I've been thinking about. While yes it's Co2, I wanna go bulk air with it using some of the stuff joe's made. Which in upon it's self I have multiple options as well.

I could get a nicely modified 2300 in .22 from crosman's custom shop for $86. (14" barrel, trigger shoe, long metal breech)

Or I could get a straight 2250b for around $80 from most online stores

Or I could get the 2250xt for around $125 from most online stores.

Back to the ruger... I know folks have suggestied the Quest to me before, but I look at the Quest then look at the hawk elite... Boy...it's really tempting to go with the hawk elite. Either way...quest or hawk elite...I'd be stuck with .177, where as any of the 22xx's are .22's. What would you do?

The Ruger is a clone of the RWS 350 (parts wise) with smaller dimensions. You can use 34 seals, springs, etc. in it. It is nicely made by BAM who also makes many parts for Diana. The BAM 28 is an EXACT copy of the 350 and all parts are interchangeable.

I have an Air Hawk which I tuned with Jim Maccari's piston seal and spring (for the 34) and it's a fine shooter and lighter and less nose heavy than my 34. It also has NO barrel droop. Unless the seal is cut or nicked up, all the gun really needs is a lube tune and if you know what you're doing, a trigger tune. But all RWS/Dianas need a trigger tune.

Think of it as a nice copy of a RWS 34 for half the price.
