Hey Filo, I believe if I were to make a silencer for my D34 it wouldn't be too hard.

First, get two endcaps fitting a two inch pcv pipe, 8" of 2" pvc pipe, 13" of 3/4 outer diameter pvc (5/8" internal), 3/4" hole saw, pvc primer and cement, drill (press is preffered), 1/8" drill bits, 2 #4 hose clamps.

Set drill on medium speed with your 3/4" hole saw. Center the pvc end caps as best you can, drill through. Check fit with your 3/4" pipe, it should be snug.

Take 3/4" pipe and mark off 3" from one end, do not drill beyond this point. Take 1/8" bit and make lines of holes all the way through your 3/4" pipe. Continue untill there is no more than 1/4" between all holes.

Fit the very end of the 3/4" pipe into one of the end caps. Fit the 2" pipe onto the endcap. Fit the other endcap over and have a few inches of 3/4" pipe stick out. Take a saw and cut that small section about 3/4 of the way up on 4 sides.

Place hose clamps onto barrel and let fall to end for now. Place new silencer onto barrel untill (estimate) the very end of it is about 3/8" past the first endcap. Bring hose clamps up and tighten as much as possible.

Fire at will. Having someone responsible to test this with can tell the audible report is much less. I would likely test it by having my cousin shoot within feet of me so maybe I would only hear a slight zip sound, the pellet going by made more noise. DO NOT SHOOT YOUR TESTING ASSISTANT OR LET THEM SHOOT YOU.

I let him shoot NEAR me, as in 5, 10, 15 feet away?

not that i know anything about making silencers Wink but... i do know a thing or 2 about making mufflers for bikes.... and when ya think about it, its exactly the same thing.... if one WERE to make an illegal silencer, simply model it after a muffler. all that would need to be done is scale it down to fit the muzzle.

of course this is only theory, i would never break the law by making such a small muffler and mount it on an airgun.

I really do have to state this- if someone is in the US or Canada and making "backyard" silencers, they could be in for a barrel of sh!t if the law catches up with them. As a theoretical exercise, talking about silencers is fine, just don't be making them where it's illegal and then go bragging about it.

Dummyracer, there are similarities between muflers and
moderators/suppresors (there is no such thing as a silencer),
but the formula for determining correct chamber volumes
is quite different. Of course most people that try to fabricate
them usually don't use a formula, but guess at baffel position
and relative chamber volume.
