Anybody ever worked on one of these?
I tore mine down tonight to get a feel for it and smoothed ou tthe trigger a bit. I also replaced the trigger spring with one from a pen, and the pull is SUPER light now. I also opened up the hole from the gas chamber to the barrel just a wink. The hole is a few mm smaller than .177", and I opened it up to .125" (1/8" for all you math whizzes out there) it is still smaller than the barrel, but it shoots considerably faster now. I'm not sure why, but it seems to actually shoot smoother. (I definitely didn't expect that)
Do any of you guys know of a way that I could make the gun shoot even smoother? When I cock it, it still makes a bit of noise.
This rifle is also known as the Beeman RS-3. |

I prefer to use heavier pellets for more accuracy, so I shouldn't have to much of a problem.
I am wondering if drilling a BUNCH of holes in the piston to lighten it up would decrease the recoil, increase the piston speed, and decrease the amount of work the spring has to do?
These large solid steel pistons seem like a bunch of weight to be moving around. |

| I forgot to mention that I also took off the barrel sleeve in the hopes that by steel barrel will shoot the pellet better without an aluminum sleeve over it. |

It's really not that heavy.
I think that using a barrel with 12 grooves and lands, instead of 6, would make this gun a much better performer.
As it is now, it's plenty powerful for someone who wants to shoot squirrels or something, but i'm after more of a target gun.
I think I'm going to talk to my Dad about maybe selling this one and getting a new one. |

I shot the gun today, and it was either the new pellets crosman came out with, or what I did to my gun.
This thing was on the ball compared to what it usually does. I even got a few one-holers in the evil diet coke can droids.
I was killin the spinning target.
It does shoot much faster now, and I think the recoil is higher, but it helps because it is now quicker and sharper. More like a firearm than an air rifle. |
