How much (ballpark) does it cost to get a spring tuned?
From where?
How many shots are they good for?
Is it something I could do at home?

Better do it yourself, it's probably half the cash.

Most tuners charge in the "ballpark" of $150.00

If you go with a tuner who has a history with tuning alot of a specific model/manufacturer of gun- they will undoubtedly do a better job as they hopefully know all the "tricks" associated with that specific unit.

But, there is something to be said for trying it yourself.

I have heard that you shouldn't disassemble a springer yourself unless you have the right tools. I heard that the spring is under tension even when the piston is all the way forward.

You probably could get some real good info on the net on how to do it yourself.
Some are easy and some other are not .

There should be some info on how to build one.

Well,I did have a 48 I took back cause I could'nt hit NOTHING with it,but it could've been a number of things,scope creep,dirty barrel,eye relief,RWS SuperDomes,hold,or just me.Plus I seen that I can get a refurb for 1/2 the price.

I could try to do it myself,but that would be like someone trying to something they've never done. I'll have to be around airguns awhile before I start doing stuff like that.I could buy B-26,B30-1 or maybe even a Crosman and use it as a guinnie pig.

It's in dutch, but the pictures will probably help. If you have questions, I'm happy to oblige.

It's not that hard to take apart, you just need to be carefull stuff doesn't get lost.

Next time I take it apart, I'll try to make a guide in english, and I'll try to make it better then that dutch website. Mr. Green

One thing to be carefull about. You need a friend to hold down the trigger house, while someone else takes the pins out. All the other things are quite easy.

(And yeah, I ment a spring compressor, that's what you can use a friend for to)

If yer want a spring compresser just get one of these buggers.
Bar / sach clamp.
Don't let people convince yer its a BIG drama to
pull a air gun apart & reassemble it.
When all is said and done they are a very LOW tec item.

Yeah? REALLY??? Then how come my 1088 is still in pieces...(other then on my 74th attempt to assemble it one of the spring went flying and I haven't seen it since...).

The 1077 is not a break barrel springer. It is MUCH more complicated.

1)1088 is a pistol 2)can't be too complicated, I only paid like $40 for the thing, It's that I'm a newibie doing these things.... 3)biggest mistake was working on it while laying on my futon...using a piece of plywood as a work bench while watching a football game.
