Hi guys, I am new on this forum.
I lately bought a Crosman 2240 that I want to mod into a carbine.
I plan on installing: Crosman stock
Crosman steel breech
Trigger shoe
Longer barrel
And maybe(if I can get my hands on an adapter) bulk fill using a paintball tank.
Pretty basic and straightfoward mods.
My questionis: How much velocity is actualy gained per inch of barrel?
I was planning on putting a 14 inch barrel, should I go longer? |

About 12 Fpe with the one I got. I have a 24" inch barrel on it. I also have a B&A Boss Bulk Fill valve (A mouthfull) and a bulk fill adapter on the end of my tube.
I also got the carbine stock. To me, it shoulders great. Pictures can be found here, with it's .22 barrel with a silencer. I now have a .177 barrel with silencer on it (allowed in the Netherlands). Pictures can you found here:

The Airmagnum on top is going to get a wooden stock!
By the way, 12 Fpe translates to about 180 Mps with RWS Superdomes in .22 (8.3 grain).
I don't know why, but somewhere that's not right. My Airmagnum does 180 Mps with superdomes, and so does my Crosman, however, a calculator came up with 245 mps (800 Fps) |

| I get 530 fps with the RWS Superpoints out of a 14 inch barrel in 22 cal. Good enough for me! Just wat to get the trigger better. |

I have never experimented extensively with the 2240 and barrel length alone. That being said, the "conventional wisdom" on a typical 2240 with no other changes than barrel length is that an 18" barrel allows for maximum velocity out the muzzle (I don't have the figures or physics in front of me to prove this, unfortunately). However, you may not be a fan of a pistol with an 18" barrel- so the carbine idea with the removeable stock is probably a good plan.
Bonus is- Crosman now sells an 18" .22 barrel (they had not done this before opening the "Custom Shop" awhile back). |

Yup- #2400-006
I had been told by someone at Crosman that they don't want to sell "custom shop" parts on their own (as in not a part of a custom build)- so if you get any issues from them, there are alternate ways of getting the part- but not any that I want to share publicly.
Try calling Crosman customer service and see if they will sell them- should be somewhere around $14 I believe. |
