100 meters will a Crosman Phantom?!? I find that hard to believe. Not that you couldn't do it, but that the Crosman could reach that far with anything even vaguely resembling consistency.

So I picked up another phantom but this one is in .177. I took it apart and did a quick deburring but when I was working on the piston I accidentally polished off about 2" from the end Going Nuts I put on a GRT III, a couple of washers under the tophat and headed into the bush. One holer to 15 yards with chph's from the tin. Out to 50 yards could hit a 1 kg coffee (5" X 7" ) can every shot. At 75 paces could hit the same can but the inconsistancies in the pellets were the major draw back to accuracy. When my order of pellets comes back in I'll head back out and put some cans out to 100 yards. This is with open sights, unbenched and shooting from the inside of my truck in a seated position.

75 paces

I've got a better idea. Since I'm going out into the bush again today I'll bring the same gun, pellets and cans except this time I'll stretch it out to 100 yards. This time the measuring wheel will make it. Its raining pretty good but I'll use a rest this time and see what happens.

Put the can on a stick and you won't have to keep running back and forth when you blast it off the rock.

A measured 100 yards. The can is at the top of the vertical cardboard against the slash pile with the can on top as the POA.

First 10 shots. Sitting from the back of my truck, elbows rested on knees.

Next 10 shots from the same spot but I made a sturdier rest from a sleeping bag and a gold pan in the back of my truck. Again from a sitting position.

I took a short movie of 10 shots. 6 hits, 4 misses. I'll post that up too when its done uploading.

What would you estimate the wind conditions to be?

Light and variable but building. Was also raining by the time I got to actually putting some shots down range.

I think with some decent pellets and a solid rest that I should be able to shrink that pattern considerably. If you take out the 4 highest shots and the one low/left shot, its really not that bad of a group if the conditions and poor pellets are added to the equation. 2 of those high shots and the low one were unrested and the other 2 high ones I called high when I took the shot as the gun but was not rested right into my shoulder and the gun jumped noticably upwards on the two shots. That can is 5"x7" so if you exclude the 5 flinch shots it falls pretty much into a 9"x9" square, just like I originally posted.

Heres the vid too. I nail the first shot, miss the next 3 but go 5 for 6 at the end.

Ok, here it is, just for broommaster2000 100 Meters with boxed cpl's.

109 yards

First 16 shots @ 109. Was supposed to be 15 but I lost count Rolling Eyes

10 shots with the sleeping bag and gold pan rest. You can see the 3 shots on the right where I punched the trigger Crying or Very sad

And a final group from a qb78 in .22 doing somewhere around 500 fps @ 109 yards with boxed cp's

And this is what a 100 meter group looks like when shot from an Airwolf.
