In the "Which PCP do you want?'' there is a photo of a Condor, courtesy of cw.
Now thats one cool lookin air rifle.
I have a RWS 48 and cant seem to shoot that thing worth a flip,I thought of getting a PCP,but-
The Condor for instance,I read you can use a pump or a self contained underwater breathing apparatus (scuba) tank.
It looks to me thats a paintball CO2 tank hooked up to that thing.
If thats true, what are fps differences in using CO2,pump,scuba tank.
I use to be in to paintball alittle and used a 4500 psi nitrogen tank, could you hook one of those up to it?
I dont know if I'll get a Condor, they seem pricey to me,but if I could hit targets better it might be worth it.
Side note,I bought a $750 metal detector in January that I've only used a couples, now thats was a waste of money.I need to sell that thing and my paintball stuff and then I'ld have enough for a Condor-maybe. |

Well, after posting that,I thought I'ld try to find some if it my self, and I did.
Pyramyd's AGR does a video on it and the Talon SS.
It can use different types of propellant.
On the Condor,if you use a low fps pressure, would that make the gun quieter? |

Yes you can use co2 or nitrogen for a condor, but I believe the recommended propellant is air. Scuba is probably the best source for this.
Well, if my talon ss is loud on a reduced setting, then I can only imagine how loud a condor is. But you can do some modifications to the condor and shoot it at reduced power and make it quieter. The question is how quiet do you need it to be? |

Maybe no louder than my Benjamin 397 .177 pump.At 8 pumps I thinks alittle louder than the RWS 48,but a different kind of sound.
I dont want it to have that CRACK-POP noise I heard on a 48 .177,that was just too loud.
Maybe the Talon might be a better choice.
Also seen the video on the Benjamin Discovery and it's tempting. |

| The talon/condor make that distinct crack sound and even with a little metalic twang. Sounds very gunshot-like, unfortunately. I am leary to fire my talon ss in my neighborhood and prefer using my springers which make a relatively quiet and nondescript "doink" sound. |

The Condor is a "dual fuel" labeled rifle- either Co2 or air. Using Co2 the power output will be down- in 68*F temperatures, Co2 is around 880psi, air would be whatever you regulate it to, up to the maximum the rifle or the tank will support (i.e. 2000psi, 3000psi, whatever).
The other thing to consider is that you practice with your Model 48. Just because a PCP is easier to handle doesn't translate to anyone becoming a better shot by merely picking one up. If you can improve using a springer, your results with a PCP would be drastically improved as well. |

I did a lot of reasearch on the Airforce Rifles before buying my Talon SS. A stock Condor is LOUD. Louder than an .22 rimfire by most accounts. The Talon and Talon SS use a different valve and are much quiter, the SS being by far the winner in the sound level category. With the right accessories the SS (stock 12 inch barrel) can be as quite as the tank ping heard when the air is released. Longer barrels can achieve the same with longer shrouds etc. Condor is tougher becuse of the higher rate of airflow.
Condor is more powerful though. |

That talon ss is not as quiet as you would think. At least without modification. I have the 12" barrel and shoot at 3/4 power and it is still pretty loud and gunshot sounding (albeit at a lower decible level).
I saw on youtube that you can put washers and spacers in the barrel to quiet it further, but it is a lot of work, makes the end of the gun heavier, and I am not sure how much noise reduction you even get out of that method.
That condor cw showed looks badass, and I'd love to have that powerful of an airgun AND it be quiet. But you are going to have to pay out the asss to get a setup like that. |

Stewart, what kind of pellets do you use, are the screws locked tight, and have you ever opened the rifle up? It sounds like you're using pellets that are to light, and maybe the rifle is dieseling. Do you get smoke?
The thing is, that Diana 48's are really good rifles, but they got a kind of manual, and with high powered springers, a good tune is never a bad idea.
Putting more weight on the rifle makes it rather managable to. A heavy barrel shroud has helped, according to a knowledgeable member of the dutch airgun forum I tend to roam. They have been using .22 versions, so you could also consider putting a .22 barrel on the rifle, IF you can find someone to do that.
After all, springers are more manly then those p#ssy PCP's.
Yet we all want one... |

Really. Are they manly enough to puch clear through a 2 inch
plank at 50 yards? I didn't think so. Now go look at your springers
and say pus, pus pus. |

Was shootin RWS Super Domes in .22 caliber.
I think I like the speed of the Condor, and the accuracy, but then again I heard of doing some amazing shots with springers.
Condor maybe too loud and too expensive for me.The gun,scope,pump/fill tank, havent even price them, too scared.
Seen a video on youtube that yaw would find interesting on a Condor, may post if I can figure out how.
Nice movin target setup you there,cw.
Joking guys! |

Have you ever tried Barakuda's? They work pretty good in mine.
I was also wondering if you ever opened it up. Diana's are known to have a spring break with the original spring. There are pretty good aftermarket springs that can greatly reduce cocking effort, but increase power.

Manly arms from cocking? Try pumping up a depleted Condor
reservoir. The last 10 strokes require 180 lbs of downward force.
165-170 strokes in all. It's a work out, but come time to shoot, it's way
worth it. |
You're not a real man. A real man would go trough the least bit of effort, and still come out manly enough, or have his love-slave do it. while he is doing push ups in the gym.
By the way, how many shots do you get from those pumps? |
