Can anyone recommend a gunsmith to work on a Bemman P3? I'm in New Orleans but location is not an issue!

| What do you need to do? If it's seals, you could probably do it yourself - they're all "O" rings. |

I'm not sure what all it needs. I bought it used, it worked fine for several months of heavy use, still works fine, but is making a "cracking" sound as it locks open for loading, and as it passes midpoint on closing. (?)
I also want to install either a scope or a red dot sight: for added weight, if nothing else. The gun's too light for me!

I have the Marksman 2004, which is a Chinese copy of the HW40/Beeman P3:

There is a normal "clink" sound about halfway through the opening stroke when the trigger resets, but you describe hearing the noise on the closing stroke. My best guess for the "cracking" sound would be one of the three pins that hold the piston and cylinder. If it were mine, I would inspect those pins for breakage or galling.
I added weight by mixing epoxy and steel BB's and pouring the slurry into those grip cavities that don't have anything mechanical happening.

Excellent gun, especially for the price. Very accurate. Out of the
box though, they need some work and then are very dependable.
Mine ate piston 0-rings until I chamfered the intake port. They
come OEM with a very nice two stage trigger.
It sounds like your gun might need some lubrication.
