Hey guys I was surfing the net on friday and came across a site that said, Home made 400 yard gulf ball air gun. And that was all it took. I had to see this thing to beleave it. so I bought the parts and went to work this weekend. It was hard to beleave this thing shoots a gulf ball over 400 yards and hard too. It was a blast building it, and a blast to shoot also. FUN FUN FUN. So as you can see, It had so much power behind it. I made three different barrels for it. Enjoy guys. The cost for all parts was about $32.00.

I'm sorry. That does not register as an Airgun. It's an air-cannon. |

| It shoots billiards balls too. Man, those could really do some damage. |

That's because it's not shooting 400yards.
I'm the builder of the original cannon:
http://www.instructables.com/id/GolfballAntennaNerf-Cannon---Build-One-That-Shoo/
And that will only shoot 450 yards at about 120PSI. With your valve (1" modded sprinkler), the most distance you'll get at 120PSI is about 300yards. How do I know this?
Well first i'm very experienced in this cannons and second, i've made one similar to that of yours:
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic,p,136108.html#136108
I made that one just for fun.
This is another golfball gun of mine:
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtopic,p,100616.html#100616
The piston wasn't as well made as my second golfball gun (the VAL) so distance is about 400yards.
A 1" sprinkler valve may open faster then a 2" piston valve, but only marginally and the flow in a 2" piston valve compared to that of a 1" sprinkler valve, is far bigger.
Nice cannon nonetheless, but when I say the cannon shoots 400yards, I mean the cannon with the 2" piston valve and 5' barrel.
You should come and have a look at www.spudfiles.com it's a great site and that's where I first learnt how to build spudguns. |

It's a gun in the sense it shoots something. But it's not a firearm.
A rifled barrel would be cool nonetheless, but would have little effect on the golfball. A hop-up would be more effective. |

No problem, btw I used Google Earth to measure it by referencing it with landmarks on a golfcourse next to my house.
You can always build a golfball cannon that shoots 450yards if you're up to it, join Spudfiles
We also have a section for BBMG's with rates of fire around 70bb's a second maybe more, i'm not sure. At a velocity of over 300fps sometimes too.
We also have a few members who makes single shot air rifles and semi-auto air rifles, so you never know you guys might find something you like there. |

| How about attaching a weight or tail the golf ball. That would increase stability, right? |

But also drag. Hop-up would be the best solution without losing much velocity. The golfballs go pretty straight as it is, but when you fire them long distances they'll start to curve back and forth.
If you're going for distance shot you shouldn't need the golfball to go exactly straight anyway. |
