Hi all

So what Pellets do people use these days??

I'm using Bisley LRG's (Long Rand Gold's) for target shooting and Bisley Pest Control's for ratting at the moment.
They may seem like expensive pellets for a 1077W, But these are by far the best pellets I have found for my 1077W yet, And accuracy is a must, Especially for ratting!.

Never seen "Bisley" brand for sale around here!

I generally just use 7.9grain Crosman pellets- target, pointed and hollow points- they are all reasonably cheap and work a-ok generally. But I do keep a tin of Beeman 10.6gr Kodiaks around for the magnum springer in case I actually need to try and kill something using a .177 pellet.

Hi AirGunEric

Maybe Bisley pellets only sell in the UK or/and Europe!?!

Hopefully Alstone or Boom will know what I'm on about.

I'm not too sure how much the Bisley LRG's and the Pest controls weigh, But the Pest Controls are definitely heavier than 7.9g's, Plus they're Hollow points, So they'll drop a rat faster than you can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Joking!!! Laughing
Faster than you can say BANG!!!

I will find out how much they weigh shortly!!

Found It!!

Here are the pellet weights for all the Bisley Pellets, Starting with the two in question:

Bisley LRG = 7.60g
Bisley Pest Control = 8.80g

Bisley Magnum = 10.60g
Bisley Practice = 7.20g
Bisley Premier = 10.60g
Bisley Superfield = 8.50g

I have been using Bisley Practice 7.2g for all my guns for general shooting, and Bisley Pest Control for magpies. But just lately when I could not get any Bisleys locally, I bought some RWS Hobby's 7.0g in place of Bisley Practice and considering that they are only 0.2g lighter they increase the fps on all my guns by 20-40 fps, possibly because they are a tighter fit, so for general use it's RWS Hobbys from now on.

Another thing which helps in the choice is the cost, I shoot about 20,000 pellets a year and Bisley Practice in .177 are £2.99 for 500 and as most of my shooting is around 20m they do the job, but since trying out the RWS Hobbys at 2.49 for 500 I also make a saving of £20.00 per year.

As a footnote, Bisleys I think are made by a factory in Germany that makes pellets for other makers as well, Possibly Walther, and the quality seems to have gone down lately (squashed and deformed pellets). But I could be wrong.

I always buy the cheapest I can get. Gamo-pro-match for the Slavia and Gamo-pro-magnum for the Umarex.

It basically means I am very cheap. Mr. Green

Yes!!, Your right Al, According to the tin that the Bisley pellets come in, The pellets are made in a factory in Germany, yet I'm not sure whether they make the same pellets for other companies such as you stated, Though the pellet tin does actually state in these exact words "Made in Germany - for John Rothery, Wholesale".

As for squashed or deformed pellets: I haven't found a single squashed or deformed pellet in the Bisley tins, Yet, Though I think this is partly to do with the transportation of the pellets and not really the manufacturer, But I did used to get quite a lot of deformed pellets when I bought Crosman's "accupell" pellets, It was like one in every five pellets that I picked out of the tin, This could be down to the transportation or maybe the manufacturer made the pellets too soft or the skirts too thin.

Also, I would just like to say that, I advise everyone to wash there hand and face after coming in to contact with lead pellets.

Question for you Broom!!:
Do you find that the Gamo pellets stain your finger tips black, When your loading them??
