Hello im new to this forum and new to modding pellet guns.My question is,is there a way i can replace the spring in my pellet gun for a more powerful shot?My gun is a chinese b1-1.I bought it a few years ago from a wealthy person for $75 canadian, needless to say i got ripped off by someone who has more money than i could ever hope to make.On the bright side i can now use it for some tinkering. Can anyone tell me how to replace the spring for a more powerful shot?I'm planning on using the gun for hunting grouse and rabbits,it shoots 490 fps.

You'll want to throw the gun. Mr. Green

I'm not sure if you want to put time and money into a B-1 though. Neutral

actually its a pretty decent gun,i dont think i want to pay over $100 for a new one.I was looking at the crossman backpacker but the b1-1 has more firepower.Whats the basic outline of what i'll have to do to increase the strength on this gun?

Well, that would be a spring guide, top hat with a bit of pre-load, polishing, and a good lube-tune.

I'm not sure if they respond very well to that, but I guess you could try.

Sorry, if you get the chance to make that choice, get the Crosman.

I think you'll have to get someone to fabricate them for you.

Xuthal, you may be wasting your time trying to upgrade and old, low quality airgun. Customizing springers takes skill and money, so unless you have both of those, you'd be better off saving up for a better rifle that is brand new.

What do you want to do with your rifle? You will probably be ahead to absorb your loss, use that one to plink if it works and then save for a good hunting or target rifle. there are a range of quality guns. While it is always nice to be able to go to the top of the line, there are reliable mid-range guns.

The B1 is, without a doubt, the most "economical" air rifle ever sold.

That being said, and don't hold me to this- I believe the spring in the "QF-2" tuning kit made by Industry Brand (around $10-15) should have a slightly better spring in it that would fit the B1. This is just an estimate- not a guarantee.

You might want to try polishing, lubing and then shimming the spring a bit before buying any more parts. Are their any tutorials on how to 'tune' a B1? I don't know- but it is very similar to the B2- so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Anyone have a link to a B2 disassembly guide?

Be careful if you aren't experinced with springers. Be sure you can safely compress the spring before disassembling your rifle.

Read around the different forums, do searches on modding that B1. Give it a go; if you muck it up, no big deal! But you will gain a lot of experience and knowledge that will help you in making your NEXT gun purchase. And you will be more confident tuning up you next project! The satisfaction of knowing YOU did it is HUGE! READ AND RESEARCH FIRST! It's all out there! I got about at least 150 bookmarks for airgun stuff alone!
