Hi everyone... For the last year everytime I walk into one of the local gun shop I alway stop and drul over a Theoben SLR on the rack and try not to look at the $3000 NZ prise tag on it. BUT today when I went in It only had $1550 on it. They are unable to shift it so out it goes at cost.
Now my Question is ... FAC as I understand it its a lower power output for the UK market etc. IS my understanding of it correct.
Dam don't want to spend $1500 on a underpowered bugger.

Ps.. the SLR is a .22 underlever with a 7 shot mag loads a pellet every time you cock it.

Thanks[/u][/i][/b]

The term "FAC" or Forearms Acquisition Certificate, "Required" means that it would shoot over 12ft-lbs for the UK market. Any rifle under 12ft-lbs would not require an "FAC".

What does the shop/tag on the gun say specifically- is it an "FAC Required" gun, or a detuned version? The FAC-version is supposed to have 17ft.lbs according to Theoben: http://www.theoben.co.uk/product.php?productid=58&cat=0&page=1

Thanks Eric .. it is a FAC the specs with it say 18ftlbs . Can't fined the FPS anywhere for them but that don't really matter to much.
Great as long as its not a low power one. Think I better go and give the poor thing a new home.
Eric ..We have no regs here for air guns other than you have to be 16 and hold a fire arms licance or 18 plus ..but if you have had your fire arms licance revoked you can't own/use a air gun either.

Thanks

One day, I should adjust the calculator to make it less cumbersome to calculate fps out of pellet weight and fpe (right now you need to do a "trial and error" sort of deal- type in a pellet weight, an fps then get the power output): http://www.airgunhome.com/pages/calculators.html

But, if you type in a "typical" 14.3gr pellet (.22 cal) and 750fps- you get roughly 18ft-lbs.

Hi guys I had a change of heart the Therben SLR is out. Always wanted a PCP so I thought send i'm going to spend $1500 I may aswell get that PCP gun I have dreamed of for so long. So I came across a Evanix PCP 6 shot .22 but can it not only shot pellets but it is a shot gun aswell if you look at the mag you will notice its twice as long as the standard AR6 one.
And I have had it 3 days and not fired a shot yet took me scuba tank down to get it filled and the dam thing was out of test so wating for it to be tested.

I don't want to make you look bad, but it's PCP. Mr. Green Stands for Pre-Charged Pneumatic. Wink

Anyway, in the Netherlands we call them Apenbuks (Monkey-Rifle) because in Korea, they use them to shoot Monkeys with. They lack accuracy, but make up for power, as it is said. It's not the best rifle on the market, allthough they seem to become better every year. If you encounter accuracy issues, you might want to try and find a barrel of better quality. They tend to be guns that need a bit of attention.

What are the laws on Airguns in NZ by the way? There seems to be a big Airgunner scene there.

Twisted Evil Thats great Now I will really be able to blame the gun when I miss. Rolling Eyes
The NZ law is.....18 years or 16 with a FAL...but if you have had your FAL revoked you can't own or use a air gun either thats about it

Thanks

Lacks accuracy? Are we talking about the Evanix specifically? A PCP in general is no less accurate than anything else.

So this is the 'Hunting Master'? I saw a reference that it acts as a 'shotgun' using plastic or paper wads only- but this was only in someone's 'For Sale' ad- Evanix itself doesn't list this anywhere.

Try it out and let us know what you think of it!

Eric, I ment that I've shot the newer models which are alright, but still can't compare to equally priced European or American airguns.

From what I've read and heard first hand, the older models are worse then the newer models, espacially on the issue of Accuracy.

Allthough they're great fun to shoot!

If the barrel is rifles, I wouldn't shoot shot with it. It ruins rifling.

Managed to get her out on sunday for a play. Put a old vista vision scope on it that i had rolling around the wardrobe for the last 100 years 4 X 32
started at 10 metres with gamo TS18 pellets "heaveyest I had" After about 10 shots was able to group at 25/30mm "after 10 shots at a bit of cardboard I was bored" Time to take her up the hills and set it up for 50 + metres took a few old coke cans with me. Started at 30 metres first few shots no luck so I took me shirt of put it over a old log rested the gun on it first shot the can disapaired into a bush after setting it up again pined it to the ground with a screw driver another 5 shots hit it every time. "hey this is kool" So i moved it out to around 70 metres six more shots no luck and had no idea where the pellet was going high/low/left/right and then I spyed a little dirt bank 50 metres behined me so i set a can up on the bank another shot and a little puff of dirt just below it to the left after a bit of peeing with the scope could hit it everytime. So I jumped back to the other side of the log and had another go at the 70 metre can first shot no luck so I aimed for the top of it and it disapaired in to the grass. was getting low on air by this time. pack up and off home. As far as the accuracy of it I don't think it would make a good target gun But hey a bunny is the smallest target I will be shooting if I able to hit a coke can at 60/70 metres a bunny will be no trouble after all they are a damm big target. will have to do it all again when I get a desent scope 3/12 X 56.
And I left me dam scew driver up the hill.

He hit a pop can at 50m- not so obscenely bad- although lots of guys are shooting bleach bottles at 150m using Condors and such. Is it just Evanix that seems to be the issue? I have no direct knowledge of their product's abilities.
