What's with the MMC cocking? My friend had one and instead of just
pulling back on a bolt, you had to reach up in front of the forstock and
pull back on this metal disc on a rod in order to cycle another round
through the action. It was very awkward to say the least. |

Hunting. You get your gun loaded, but not cocked.
I'd go for the BSA Scorpion, Al. They're not very big either. |

The Scorpion looks like it doesn't have the Daffy Duck (I prefer
him over Micky Mouse) cocking saucer in front of the forstock. |

Cheers CW, I have been offered an Ultra at a good price complete with pump, and scope three weeks old, but I agree with you the cocking method is a bit iffy, (Press the catch on the right to release the bolt put the pellet in press the bolt back, then press the cocking dish in the front) to much hassle for me I think. What I did like was that it took just 40 pumps for 30 shots, which suits me.
It was just a good offer Anton but by the time I’d changed the scope to a AO type, it probably wouldn’t have been such a good offer, anyway I’ll keep looking, an s400/410 would be nice.

Are you still going to associate with us if you get a 410?
I mean, you are going to be upper crust then. |

Ha Ha! I'll probably finish up with a Crosman Disco CW, I'm just looking around for a PCP rifle that I fancy, the trouble is every one you look at has something you don't like, the Ultra is a good case to illustrate that, and I was being serious about the Disco.
There going on sale in this country in September I think, so I''ll see what price they come out at, in the mean time I'm still looking.

I have been thinking about getting a Discovery and
putting a Walther barrel on it. |

| Walther-Lothar barrels aren't really that great. I've read plenty of times that BSA, Air Arms, or Weihrauch barrels are sufficient too, if not better. |

I think a "Walther" barrel is a diffrent thing to a "Walther-Lothar" barrel. I have an idea that it's two diffrent sides of the family.
But I could be wrong.

You are right Al, two different sides of the same family.
As far as their quality, besides the extreme presision that the barrels
are held to during manufacture, they are the only company that I am
aware of that makes their barrels out of Chome-Moly steel and then
hardens them by tempering. If one is concerned with longevity, then
they are a good choice. It's never a crap shoot trying to get an
accurate barrel with Lothar Walther barrels. You always get a
top shelf barrel with them.
Broommaster, ALL of the barrels that you mention are fabricated
from ordnance steel which is a little softer than mild steel. Ordnance
steel is made soft on purpose, so that it is easy to machine. The ease
of machinability makes ordnance steel especially easy to accurately
inscribe the rifling into the bore. The rifling buttons don't have to be
made out quite as hard of a material and last longer.
Don't get me wrong, made right, ordnance and mild steel make for
accurate barrels.
The main drawback to using ordnance steel is that isn't as long lived
as hardened Cro-Mo steel by a longshot. |

I can't help getting the feeling that you won't experience it so much. |

From what I gather the barrel fitted to the Disco is quite good, and I would have thought that fitting a Walther-Lothar was a bit over the top unless your going to re-valve it and sort out the trigger and hammer movement, which then takes the cost up another level.
I have to go with Anton on this one, on its own a better barrel may not perform 100% as it should.
