So I use a hand pump to fill my pcp. Part of my original problem was that the connector part had a bad leak, which was subsequently fixed with thread tape. The guy told me to put no more than four wraps around the thread, but I probably did twice that and it still leaks. I'm not sure if I should just put more tape on or not.

My real problem is that air pressure gauge is in the pump and measures pressure based on how much is in the pump itself and not necessarily whats in the pcp resevoir canister. I was told that when you pump it creates heat and artificially raises the psi so you can't get an accurate reading while pumping. You have to wait a bit for it to cool down. However, the pump leaks slowly so you never really know what the pressure is because it's either artificially high or starts leaking and begins to drop, thus showing lower psi than what's in the resevoir.

Any suggestions about this? I think I am getting it pretty close to 3000 psi just doing my best at approximating, but I don't want to continually underpump and not get the full potential and I certainly don't want to over pump and blow a gasket.

Sucks that they made you solve it with tape. Aren't they just supposed to send you a working unit or something?

I still think that a pump is a waste of money anyway, allthough I can understand that a Scuba centre is quite hard to find.

A pump can be more convenient in some cases. For instance, if the scuba runs out then you are forced to go get it filled and are dead in the water until then. I may get a scuba in the future, especially when I get too old to break my back pumping, lol.

Yeah, the guy I got the adaptor and gun from was helpful and polite, but I wasn't happy about the situation. I should've insisted that he sent another adapator that he personally tested (which his site said he did in the first place!) The one they sent me had obviously never been used since it was not capable of holding compressed air when I got it.

I've come to realize that when you buy online....cross your fingers and pray because there are no guarantees as to what will show up on your doorstep. I'd written a post about this guy a while back, but apparently he stole the idea of becoming an online airgun retailer from someone else and he was not an airgun expert by any means, just a businessman.

I would take it apart and remove all the tape Roger then just put two turns around and no more, wind the tape clockwise on the thread this will hold it in place when you screw it back. one other thing make sure there are no rough spots on the thread that will cut the tape, if it still leaks re-do the tape and apply some loc-tite thread seal on top and leave over night.

Yeah, I bet lock tite would work. There is actually no reason for that piece to need to be taken apart, so I might as well weld the damn thing together. Too bad I don't weld.

I would think the more tape the better since it would fill in the spaces more thoroughly but that's probably not how it works. I'll think about lock titing it.

Permatex,I had the same problems with both SCUBA connections and pump conections,use the non hardening stuff.It will not be affected by the heat generated by your pump and has the ability to expand and contract with the temp changes.Advisied by a high pressure Hydraulic repairman.

Wow! Who did you buy that from? For as much as they cost, I would
just send it back and buy an Airforce pump.

I have had one for quite a while now with no issues what so ever.

I use it a lot when I mountainbike out in the woods. Over the years
a lot of people have been attacked by these big mountain lions that we
have here. So I like to take the Condor, the pump and some Eun Jins
when I go out for a ride.

As for the air pressure dropping a little from heat lose, I never
have worried about it. Just find it's sweet spot and fill to there.

After the above, shoot until you are no longer comfortable with
the POI, then refill.
