Hey guys I am sorry for posting all these questions I am just in the market for some new airguns and just wanting to see if they are worth buying. Ok first I just go my crosman 2250 and just love it. But the only problem is that in the winter I cant use the Co2. So I was looking around and saw the 2289. I was all excited beacuse it was just my needs and then I saw they didnt make it in the US anymore. So I was looking around and found a site that had them in Canada. So Just wondering if the 2289 was any good and would it be a good mod platform.
P.S I am trying to learn how to mod and basic stuff like that. |

The 2289 is basically a newer version of the Crosman 1322 pistol, but with the removable stock and interchangeable grips- thus the name "Backpacker" on it (pack it up into your backpack...).
Canada, which is the only market I am aware of still with the 2289- is a "detuned" version- putting out a maximum of 495fps- usually signficantly less than this. To re-tune the gun is pretty simple however- either plug a bleed hole in the valve assembly, or replace it with a 1322 valve- still available from Crosman (part #1322C013) and Crosman parts dealers.
Is it a good gun? As cheap pumpers go- it's as good as you will get for the money- but it does better with a longer barrel (stock barrel is 14", an 18" is better- but you have to get a 24" Crosman barrel, cut it down and re-crown it to get an 18" unit). |
