I was wondering if people thought that having a chat room on the board might be a useful feature. It could be used for people to just 'shoot the bull' or for people coming here to look around and having questions and possibly using it to 'grab' someone who's already a member and online to have their questions answered.

Any feedback or ideas?

I'm guessing people just dislike polls or something. Part of it, of course, is that you have to be a registered member to vote- no 'lurkers' can vote- so maybe this is a detriment to the overall process/intent of proposed changes to the site. I tend to not vote on polls here- I already know my own opinion. Wink

You have the phobia as well then!?! (Voteaphobia (I think that's how it would be spelt!))
Or you just don't vote for your own polls!!

Stevie Thumb Up!

No- I don't vote on polls for THIS forum- skewing the results by adding my vote doesn't seem too cool.

Besides- if I absolutely decided that something MUST be had here- I could do it. People might hate it- but I could do it. So, I'm looking for others to offer a view or some feedback on what they think would/wouldn't be useful around here.

If you're registered- go ahead and vote! Even a "no" to the poll is useful information.

The "chat room" idea is something that might get integrated later on.

What I think might be the best idea is one of those "shout box" type things at the bottom of the page- so it's actually part of the index page itself, and not a separate "room" where people go off to 'chat'. Those sorts of 'rooms' seem to almost always be rather empty of people, don't know if it's a psychological thing or a functional/technical problem (i.e. more than one window open in a browser).

We'll see how we move along- I'm waiting to see if we can get some resources gathered through the "Raffle" first.
