Have any of you used the practice of placing your full Co2's in scalding hot water before loading them in you gun to increase fps and capacity?

I just watched a video review on Crosman's 1088 where the guy claimed he was able to gain an aditional 100-150 fps and more shots by doing this...

Any truth to this? or do we need to call the paramedics right away?

Check it out...

Actually, it's better to get them glowing bright red with
an oxy-acetylene welding torch. Make sure that you use
a welder's glove as the gun will be hot to the touch.

I use heat packs in the winter attached with a rubber band to the gun. It helps.

Boiling water? A bit hot to touch, and how long does it stay hot?

The other thing of course- almost all Co2 guns will have their valve lock up if the input pressure gets over about 1200psi, which would occur if the Co2 is at 97.55 degrees Fahrenheit (see the Co2 pressure calculator near the bottom of this page: http://www.airgunhome.com/pages/calculators.html ).

I might add that when the gas expands quickly, in combination with a high temperature you'll be less economical with the gass, and because of the quicker expantion, it will more quickly cool down.

If it really was such a good idea, they would have fitted CO2 guns with warmers years ago.

I once owned a Umarex "Walther"(that's pronounced vawl'-tur) CP88 with the 6" barrel, nickel plating, and wood grips. Beautiful gun. But, in the scorching hot summertime at 90+ degrees my hot little hands would raise the temperature/pressure of the ampule in the grip to the point where the hammer didn't have enough energy to knock open the valve, resulting in misfires and low velocity shots.

Never a fan of CO2 guns because of the velocity changes related to temperature, I ended up selling this SOLID ZINC MASTERPIECE !

I could just load the co2 cartridge in the gun and leave the side grip panel open and lay it in the sun for 30 minutes. 110 degree heat in direct sunlight would do the trick nicely. Then I could just put the grip back on and not have to handle the hot cartridge.

Oh yeah, the rest of the gun would be so hot at this point since it's all black that I couldn't handle it either, but you know.

I read somewhere that mosquitoes are attracted by CO2 and heat. So you wait until early evening (when the sun is lower) and you go out with your CO2 gun. Bad choice. So many mosquitoes, not nearly enough pellets.
