I have a daisy red ryder laying around and a lot of pesky squirrels. It only shoots 350fps, not nearly enough to accomplish anything. Are there any modifications to make it shoot any faster? thanks

I've never actually had a Red Ryder apart! (maybe I should just for kicks). That being said, it is a lever-action springer, and I don't know that the lever can move any further than it does when it comes new out of the box, so shortening the piston may not only be useless- but may not allow the gun to be cocked. So- about the only simple option left is to install a longer spring.

Or, you could just buy a more powerful gun to start out with- the time and effort that may have to be invested in a Red Ryder may not be worth it- especially as the gun is a bit "youth" sized, physically speaking.

That's kind of like saying you have a Commodore64 and you want to upgrade it with Windows Vista.

You should tune it. I would love to get my hands on one
to tune. I bet that with the proper lubes and a tune you would
be able to noticeably boost it's performance.

You could probably tune it up a little, but its still a bb gun. I don't know if that thing can even be made shoot pellets. And shooting squirrels with a bb gun is not really a good idea.

Heck, even if you doubled the velocity, 700 fps bb's would barely kill birds, let alone a tree rat.

Have your mom drive past your yard at 60 mph, that will give you an added 88 fps! Note: only for game in front of the car.
