Air Gun Home Forum Index » The BS Topic » Had a fight with Windows XP Professional OP-SYS    View previous topic :: View next topic  Had a fight with Windows XP Professional OP-SYS   Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 7:35 am BBGun Bob Veteran Member Joined: 29 Oct 2007 Posts: 474 Location: Michigan Well last week my computer wanted to start a fight.For some reason after downloading XP service pack 2 updates I had nothing but trouble.So no target got done for week 36.I finally got it straightened out late yesterday afternoon.It seems Microsoft has an issue with the new service pack that tells them you have a fake copy of windows in your computer even if you do not!! It will let you run your computer but some thngs do not or will not work.To make things worse it will not let you do a restore to another point/date.(prior to service pack 2 download.) There is a web site and a forum that can help you and will remove "WGA" Windows Genuine Advantage from your computer if this happens to you. Softpedia.com has the fix you will need to remove this imbedded software from your computer and its free. Write it down you might need it! I'm assuming you were also trying to install the newest "Service Pack 3" not SP2- which has been around for a few years now! _________________ ` I'd say "I care." But I'd be lying.
