I'm trying to help a coworker with a bee problem. There's a hive of honey bee's up in her tree outside her house. She doesn't know what to do and is too cheap to call the bee removal people. I used to kill behives as a kid when they'd infest our yard, but I was wondering what a good technique is. If anyone has any tips.
My suggestion was to spray it with the water hose and try to either drench it or knock it down with the water stream. Then if that fails, run up and knock it out of there with a broom or rocks. Then wet it again and put it in a trash bag. Seems precarious, but I've found if you watch your back and have a hose, it is difficult for bees to get to you. |

Pour petrol over it, knock it out of the tree and throw a match at it. Job done!
PS : Get out of the tree before throwing the match.

| We don't have petrol in America. We have gas though. |

| Apparently something in nature or perhaps man-made is killing the bees anyway or making them leave apiaries . Something like one out of every three bites of food, here in Ontario anyway, depends on bees for pollenation and now their population is in crisis. But I suppose a can of butane with a lit sparkler taped to it makes a dandy target... |

| Does bee spray destroy nests and prevent reinfestation though? Probably wouldn't hurt. |
