Crosman Phantom 1000. Straight out the box.

Is the trigger guard part of the stock- or is it removeable? Also- there is a scope rail on that stock somewhere?

I asked Crosman yesterday and they couldn't tell me offhand- and I'm still waiting for a price on the stock to use on a Quest.

Funny- It's a Quest with a synthetic stock. Wood quality on the Quest is so low- it appears the Phantom will be the longer-lasting gun (i.e. the stock won't break apart by tightening the screws a bit)- and at the same price as a Quest!

Nice- how was it shooing for you before you disassembled it?

I'm assuming you disassembled it completely in order to polish/deburr anything not quite perfect- or was this just for demonstration purposes?

It was shooting well at 10 yards. I can do nickel sized groups with open sights and this being only my second springer. The first was one of those $20 no name guns that shot slower and less accurately than I can flick a booger.

At 10 yards it will go slap through a metal coffee can. I've chewed through a few phone books too.

I killed a Grackle and a squirrel at about 10 yards as well. One shot for the Grackle and 2 for the squirrel, he moved.

The gun likes Crosman Premiers (7.9gr). Those and Gamo Raptor Gold (5.0gr I think) is all I've tried.

The trigger guard is made onto the stock, all one piece. The only way to remove it would be to cut it off.

Say, have you ever taken apart your Quest? Cause, ah, I may need some help getting the trigger back together.

Oh, I did once bring it to an outdoor range and shot at 25 yards. It was kinda windy and I was still very new to it, so I can't gripe too much about the dinner plate size groups, at least I kept all shots on the paper.

I took it apart cause, well, I can't leave stuff alone. I've got powder burners and have taken all them apart, so... I also wanted to see what made it go and try some of this cool mod stuff I hear about.

I'll be doing that soon and will keep yall posted.

Go into the "Rifles" forum and look at the "What not to do to a springer" post- that is a Quest- although the close-up pictures there are a bit hard to see. The Quest and the Phantom are the same gun except for the stock- and on the Quest the trigger guard is a separate piece.

As for the trigger being apart- I had avoided that- too many springs in too many places- 'if it ain't broke- don't fix it' was my thinking. But if you get stuck- post pictures and I can direct you (I have a brand new trigger assembly ["pack"] in a Crosman parts envelope I can use to compare).
