I can't wait to get my new lathe! I'm tired of this mini-lathe... I spent more $$$ on mods, tooling and keeping it running than it would have cost me for a larger lathe...
It took more time than I had allotted just to machine the bodies of these adapters.
I still have to drill and thread for the hardware and then on to the steel mounting points, Spring guides for the adjusters... Weeeeee Funnnn!
Grumble, grumble, grumble... Defo a labor of love put into this batch.

Beautiful work, as always, Joe.... are you still making the 22XX/Disco extended valve fronts?.... The last one I did I drilled 3/8" right up to the shoulder where the O-ring that seals the threads sits.... and 1/2" to nearly the groove for the trigger screw.... My math says that's still good for 3:1 safety margin at 3000 psi, so not a problem.... More internal volume, and more flow.... I'm using the standard Crosman size O-rings (0.070" cross section) to seal into the tube, just ahead of a 2260 roll-stamp.... For those going after more power in a Disco, eliminating the tiny hole in the gauge port really helps....

Hey Bob,
You bet ya. I kicked it up a notch on this last batch.
I switched out materials to anodized T6 to reduce the weight and add a another safety factor that aluminum provides over brass in the HPA format as you suggested awhile back.
I also increased the ID between the relief for the front trigger screw to the spring seat to match the ID of the valve spring for better flow through.
The Tech drawings are in the shop... Being Father's day I have been banned from working by the little lady.
Some of my guys have now nick named it the "Black Valve"...
I'm starting to feel like I'm being pulled in two directions with the Rim Fire shops coming on board. But with The Ruger Steel Challenge coming up... I got to spend more time on the range with the rim fires if I'm going to compete...
I love the accuracy of my air guns... they still beat my rim fires at 100+ yards. I still turn heads at the range when my groups are smaller than theirs, even at a greater distance. |

Moving on to the steel mounts...
Some leftovers from the last batch I made.
I'm going to strip these and have them professionally hot blued by Yorks Metal Finishing with the rest of this batch.
Moving to Boise was a great choice of locations. I have all the resources here locally to manufacture parts and have them finished above and beyond what I did in California. Not to mention, VERY gun friendly. |
