Along those lines, Eric, I recently received an email from a widow in Nigeria who's husband just died. She feels bad for all of his illegal business ventures and is wiring me $1.6 billion.

And so that all of you know how great a guy I am, I plan on sharing with everyone here on this site. Crazy LOL

Sadly, I think if this crooked business didn't work on alot of people, no one would do it.

How stupid do you have to be to believe that someone can't find a closer friend or associate to take 10% of $15 or 30 million to "simply" hand over bank account info? Or that someone needs $10k of your money to get some other crook to release the millions that is just waiting to be retrieved ?

I remember getting actual hand written letters in the mail back around 1995 with the exact same scam, but just in a letter instead of email.

Using the old air mail letters, thin paper on which the message is written and the whole thing is then folded to make the envelope. Even had air mail postage on it!

The only way to bypass such warnings is to disable to feature in your browser (Firefox has a simple on/off switch for it).

But- if in fact the content (i.e. re-direction to another website) is bad enough- maybe for most people it is actually an advantage to not let them visit sites with corrupted content.

I'm really starting to get aggravated with these near constant attacks- with all the automated tools than are running rampant these days (far more oriented at websites than there used to be) in order for criminals to sell their crooked junk by basically stealing other peoples space/existence and time (to eliminate/repair their damage) it is getting absurd. A few years ago I wasn't too concerned with "hackers" and prosecuting them- but now I've turned completely around- catch a "hacker" (pro or not)- nail them to the wall- I have lost hundreds of hours of my time fixing/attempting to prevent this sort of thing- for only a couple of websites- and for what? So some Ukrainian gangster can then steal again by ripping some ignorant guy trying to buy fake viagra? Or, get people's passwords and steal their bank accounts?

Just as a note: You will never receive any notifications that are legitimate from AirGunHome.com stating something like your password is bad and needs to be re-set or you need to log-in to "update" things, etc. Any issue(s) that could involve such a thing would come straight from me via PM on the board here, or in an email that is obviously written by me direct to "you"- not some generic thing- often with poor English and grammar.
Just to add a thought for those that may not have thought about it. That is if you get an email telling you you need to do something official like update your password or whatever do not do it by clicking on a link in the email got to the site the way you normally do and see if they still request you to do something. That way you have less of a chance of being redirected to a false site.

Ha, yep, that's the way mine came. Folding paper like that is like art. Heck, they should have sold their services in paper folding and they could have made a fortune. lol Rolling Eyes

I got that nasty bug too...

I had to start a new Windows profile to get around it...

It resides in your internet temp files. Avast will only clean it up after you stop the process in your task manager.

It piggy backed on a topic notification e-mail and launches a timed delayed attack as soon as you click on the topic link.

Over the years I've had two computers infected with viruses. I had my car set on fire by a vandal once. I would love to take theses three people, feed them a great deal of Ex-Lax laxative and lock them all in a small closet for a few days. I would do that because some would think that the death penalty for hackers and virus writers is a bit too harsh.
