Anyone here own or have even used the FX brand Stage 3 or Stage 4 Super pump?? At $269 and $289, respectively, I'd sure like to hear from somebody that has first-hand, hands on experience with one before I peel off that kinda $$$ for a hand pump... If no experience available, then what's your experience with other brand names of hand pumps??? PLEASE I already have researched the Benjamin pump (and associated fialures) so we need not discuss it ...thanks for any hands-on insight as to which pump is the one YOU would buy Mr. Green

Going by your Sig I would get a scuba tank, unless you want an early death. Mr. Green

So then, not only will "pumping" make ya go blind, it can also cause death Shocked Shocked Shocked perhaps I'd better leave it alone? ("it" being the hand pump) Mr. Green and follow Lloyd Bridges's lead on "Sea Hunt" ??..

C'mon now, I know there are a good many of you guys using a hand pump, what say ye? Help keep me from making a costly mistake..need no help in THAT area<GULP>

I find pumping is good cardio exercise.... I pump about 50 times (more when the pressure is lower), take a short break (~2-3 min) to let the pump cool down and my heart rate subside and then do another 50 (sometimes less when the pressure is getting near 3000).... I'm a big guy, however.... so I don't have a problem getting to 3000 psi.... even though I'm 61 yo.... In the winter it's about the only good exercise I get.... I actually convinced the Mrs. to let me get my Disco for the workout.... Laughing

Well I too am 61 YO,,but at 5'8" and about 130 pounds well........... I was hoping someone here has personal experience with one, and that the reason the FX pumps are SO EXPENSIVE is because they work so effortlessly that a skinny guy like me would be able to use one without having a coronary Shocked Shocked

When I bought my discovery, it came with the footpump. Now I do realize that I do smoke, and I do have a spare (truck) tire around the middle (6' 325lbs). But hot dang! I can't get the pressure above 1400psi. I too figured this would be good excersize. I was quickly proven wrong spent the rest of the evening with a heating pad on lower back and forcing a couple tylenol #3's down. (I hate taking pills).

Ah well, I'm hoping to get a scuba tank and parts soon.

Get the FX Stage 4 pump... It "shifts gears" automatically when the pressure gets high.... good quality from everything I have heard.... The FT guys in Ontario use them....

Jax.... I'm built about the same.... guess I just "work through the burn".... mind you I've never smoked.... Laughing

I'm surprised that with so many guys here with PCP, HPA guns , that not a single one owns (or HAS owned) an FX pump. Guess I'll be the first...even with the price tag @ $289.00 Shocked Shocked As long as my 61 year old skinny _ _ _ can keep a 13 cu.in. bottle pumped up, then I guess it'll be worth it???..Living so close to Atlantic ocean (55 miles) means an abundance of dive shops, the problem is that they are 30 miles away, seeing as I chose to live in "the sticks". Bob, the "shifting gears" thing makes it even more attractive!! Hoping more info will turn up here...

I have a Axsor PCP hand pump .
Before I got it I had the Benjamin hand pump.(and that crap pump broke in 26 days)
The Axsor is so much better then the Benji.
It pumps smoother, and takes less effort to get to 2600psi.

Thanks for that reply, seems like I read somewhere that the Swedish fellow that designed the Axsor also "had his hand" in the FX pumps as well ,hmmmmmm.......

Midichlorian--what outfit did you buy your Axsor from? Think I may want to phone them.
