Anyone know where I can see what is involved in bluing parts- not using the "paste in a can" type products? I may have a large batch of items to be blued all at once and am not sure how to go about this! |

I'm setup... PM me for details or I can help you setup. Bluing isn't a cheap or easy, but if you have parts that need bluing on a regular basis, it's a necessary evil... |

That would be the thing- if I only had a couple of small items it wouldn't likely be worth the time. However, I need to know how to get this done for a large batch of pieces.
Anyone able to post how this might be done? |

Hey Eric,
The Caswell Black Oxide kit works pretty good. Just make sure your parts and solution are almost too warm to touch... and up the ratio of the soulution if you want to re-use it.

Setup is expensive Eric, especially if you have tonnes of parts to run. If you only have a few at a time you can skip some tanks, but otherwise it's too much work without the tanks.
We are talking $400-500 just for a bare bones setup, skipping all the tanks you can. Salts typically run at 10lbs per gallon of water
I'll pm you with details if you want, but just the salts could run you $200US for a 4 gallon bath. |
