Well here it is...
The Cold Morning Test…
I picked up my F1 Crony last night at Sportsman’s Warehouse and broke it in this morning…
At 53 Degrees Fahrenheit and the morning frost dripping from the trees…
The 2250 with the new valve and bulk set up was averaging 625 fps down range at 2 yards… Any closer at the Co2 vapor burst would error out the crony…
Stock the 2250 is rated up to 550 fps in optimal temp. & conditions.
The first shots with the tank at room temp (68) were hitting 675 fps.
I also had higher fps when I tipped the gun up making sure I did not get liquid Co2 into the valve. I turned the tank on and then off just charging the valve. I can get 10 full power shots with just the valve charged. Then the fps drop to 475 for 4 more shots.
The performance mods on the 2250 include:
20” barrel
My custom Direct Injection Bulk Valve. (Ported and Angled)
My custom ASA Tank adapter.
Extended Probe Bolt
Delrin Transfer Port.
This 2250 is HPA Ready...
Compared to my new 2240 that is in the works…
The only performance mod so far is… a 16” Barrel.
It was averaging 425 fps at the same temperature on a standard Co2 Cartridge. It peaked at 511 fps at room temp. of 68.
Stock the 2240 is rated up to 460 fps in optimal temp. & conditions.

Sorry... I forgot to mention the pellets I was using for the above test...
Standard .22 Crosman Premier Hollow Points...
They don't advertise the weight of these pellets... If anyone knows... please chime in...
I wanted to pick a very common pellet to do the testing.
I will order some heavy pellets to have some fun numbers with... |

675 fps.
Nice, how about .177?
That new Gamo Extreme CO2 hits the 800 fps in .177. |

Stop putting ideas in my head broom...
I have an extra 18" & 24" .177 barrels... just no bolt to go with it...
Maybe I should take the 2240 and build the internals exact to the 2250 but in .177 and do a side by side comparison... |

There is also a trick of putting a needle on the bolt, so the bullet is pushed further beyond the transfer-hole. I think you'd need to make more space to retreat the bolt though, or making a special one.
Sorry Joe, I can't help it. I got plenty of ideas I can't keep inside... |

I made the extended bolt for the 2250... I just don't have a .177 bolt here to get the right measurements from... |

I like the design- is that a second adapter in the rear of the 2250 to hold the tube in place and then affix the paintball tank? |

No... the ASA/Paintball tank adapter is one piece and replaces the hammer spring plug... The second is an inline on/off valve till I change out the pin valve on the tank to one that has the on/off built in...
I will also have an anti-siphon tube installed to keep the liquid Co2 from entering the hard lines. I am getting a 15-25 fps drop if there is liquid in the AG valve.
The new Crony is very useful in determining even subtle changes... |

Tape an extra battery inside the box - I've heard that people sometimes leave the switch on. Well, maybe I didn't just hear about it. But a handy spare is nice, anyway.
If you move inside, don't use flourescent lighting. It messes up the computer. I got an incandescent flood light with a frosted glass face that screws in a ceiling socket in my basement. Works without the diffuser panels. |

Indoors is out of the question... I only have 50 feet to play with and my wife tells me to take my toys outside...
See... I should not have married a woman who was a mother before a wife... Oh well I got an extra "good son" out of the deal...
The Extra Battery is a good idea... I will hit Radio Shack and get an extra 9V battery clip to keep it from roaming around inside the case... I try not to use tape... Except Duct Tape... It's a fix all...
This thing works nice with the tripod from my wife's camera... She saw me using it and did not say a word... It's either the meds... or she has faith that I won't shoot it... I'm betting on the meds...
BTW
I did not re-run the test later in the day... The temp only got up to 58 and I did not see the point...
So I just killed more cans practicing my speed loading & shooting on the move with the single shot... Much slower but more challenging than using one of the repeaters... |

The weather man lied... It only got up to 65 today...
I was out shooting most of the morning so the tanks were the same temperature.
I actually ended up with less of an average fps than the other day when I had just brought the tanks out from the toasty warm house...
See for yourself...

Still think I need to spin some thing like this up for my Crosman 1760
Those little co2 caridges are a pain in the a _ _
Feed it stright from a scuba tank though a pressure reducer
as I only use it for target/can killing. |

I've seen it. Chrony results. It's a pretty good rifle in terms of power.
I still want to own one myself to excessively test it at Jan's place. |
