After resealing gun this problem happened.

Normally you cock gun and it remains safe until you cock hammer and fire. When i got it back together you have to cock the gun twice or there are 3 positions for the hammer to be in. Down totally(position after firing), one click back(normally should go to this position when cocking) and hammer all the way back to fire.

If i don't move the hammer manually to middle position i can only cock lever straight down. The hammer in down position prevents second half of cocking cycle(pulling lever back up to grip)unless you put hammer in middle position before the reload cycle or after completing half of cocking cycle. I have a newer 1894 with more plastic and a safety that only requires you to cock the gun then pull hammer back and fire.

I took off rear stock and side covers to try and troubleshoot problem and can not see anything wrong. All parts and springs seem to be in place. Something should be holding or pushing the hammer back so cocking cycle is not interrupted half way.
Pretty sure it did not operate this way before i started repair.

Has any of you with 1894 repair experienced this? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Not familiar with this gun, but had similar sounding issue with a 499. What it turned out to be on my gun was a small spring inside the trigger group that resets everything after firing had fallen out.
