Today my order of a 1760SE001 24 inch .177 cal barrel, and a 2300-034 nickel plated long nose bolt from Crosman arrived.
So I swapped the bolt in my steel breach, and swapped out my old 18 inch .22 cal barrel with this new .177 cal 24 inch barrel.
So I now have a 1389 with a 24 inch barrel.
Here it is next to my Daisy 880 for comparison:
And the long nose nickel plated bolt:
And yes I have a cheap fixed power Crosman 4x15 duplex reticle scope on it at the moment (same with that Daisy 880 right now [though that one is a Daisy branded scope]). I am needing to get a new Leapers UTG 4x32 mill dot reticle scope.
I had already done many power mods to this gun, including Stuffing that piston, shaving the valve nose to match the inside of the pump cup seal better, shimming the pump cup seal, boring out the exhaust port on the valve, weakening the valve spring, etc. It was shooting right around 638FPS at 12 pumps in .22 cal with Crosman Premier Domed 14.3 grain. I have yet to chrony it in .177 with the 24 inch barrel, though I imagine that it is up there way high in FPS now. This is its first half day as a .177 cal gun, it has only had about 40 shots through it as a .177 cal. |

| Just curious as to why you went from .22 to .177? And also did you convert a pistol into a rifle? |

Well technically it is still just a pistol with a stock and a 24 inch barrel . It came new with the but stock and a 12 inch .22 cal barrel, after that I put a 24 inch .22 cal barrel on it,, then cut that to a 18 inch .22 cal barrel, and now it has the 24 inch .177 barrel.
I went to .177 for a few reasons:
1:Heavy pellets in .177 tend to have a much better BC than most .22 pellets.
2: For target shooting I like the high MV to reach out for long shots.
3: The pellets are a lot less expensive.
4:I enjoy hunting.
5:All of the AirGuns I hunt with are now the same caliber (.177).
6: If I need the nock down power of .22 I can use a good 16+ grain .177 hollow point. |

| Makes sense plus you have commonality in your guns. Thanks Dave! |

My 1389 is a tack driver. At least at 12 yards.
Did some shooting with it for accuracy at 12 yards. And the results were quite nice. With Winchester Domed 9.8 grain pellets I got 1/5th inch groups, and this is the first time it has had some good target time. I am sure that I can tighten up those groups quite a bit as I practice with this gun. I am still learning the gun as a .177 cal. |

I have no doubt you'll get that gun shooting even better because of your dedication to practice...that is certainly the key to marksmanship. I am going to start practicing more too. I just kinda got the desire to shoot my air gun(s) as best as I can. It's nice to be able to do that in our basement. My wife even likes to shoot the Crosman 2240 with me! By the way I just ordered some mods for the 2240 to tune it up a little. |
