What and how do you use to lube the piston on a springer. I know you use silicone oil for the seal. Does the silicone lube the piston and seal?

I use molybdenum or Molyslip which is a light gray grease which contains molybdenum, use very sparingly, or use Molyslip anti scuffing paste. silicon is ok for seals but not really good enough for use on somthing like a high speed piston.

I use silicone when both surfaces are rubber or synthetic, like the plastic-on-plastic parts in a couple of my pistols. If the contact is metal-on-metal I use a high molybdenum disulfide content paste. Break barrel breech pivots and piston spring thrust washers are examples. I also use a thin coat of moly where piston seals wipe the compression tubes on all my springers.

Coil metal springs are another matter. I have a Crosman G1 and a Mendoza RM577 where the spring and guides got moly paste. My Slavia 631 and Industry B3-2 have a thick, low moly content EP grease from the hardware store that eliminates "twang." (Put some between your fingers and when the fingers separate the grease forms strings.)

The "O" ring pump seal and cylinder on my Marksman 2004 (Beeman P17) seems to like SuperLube synthetic grease, I use that same stuff on metal trigger parts.

The guns I have with leather piston seals are assembled with moly, but then get a few drops of non-detergent 30 weight motor oil every few hundred shots. I also use the motor oil on exposed pivot points like cocking linkages.

And then there's the really important one - when I sleeve barrels with vinyl tubing I use K-Y gel to slide it on.
