Getting ready for a little cold weather, stocked up on beverages Friday. I even get to sleep in until 4:30 am tomorrow, late start at work.
Are you ready for some chilly weather Slavia?

I was ready for spring back in October. To think it was +37 Deg. F. when I came home from work Saturday morning.

Did you ever try that trick where you throw a cup of hot coffee up in the air?

Then there is the problem with wild fires. You can't light a match in this weather, because the flame freezes. Then they all thaw out at once in the spring. And you can't talk, either - the words all freeze, and there's a heck of a noise when they all thaw out in March.

On the last trip home from Brookings I counted six trees, a couple of big rocks, and one big dog. That at least should break the wind - you guys in South Dakota don't have that advantage.

It's -2 degree F where I'm at. And my doorway, my doorway mind you has at least half a foot of snow in it.

I haven't tried throwing a cup of coffee in the air, that trick would require me to go outside. I'll leave that trick for the weathermen and the science teachers.

the science teachers.

I was one, once. That explains it.
-24 Deg. F. when I got up. Happily no wind. The wife's car started successfully after many cranks - it's my normal day off.

Just for balance it's 48 F over here in the UK at the moment and very pleasant. But with the jet stream heading this way I suppose it is inevitable that it will arrive here in due cause, or with a bit of luck veer of to the north and head for Iceland. Smile

Good luck to the lad finding it otherwise it’s a trip to the US embassy, which I wouldn’t envy. My wife and I just spent a week in an hotel next to the embassy, and what with UK police patrolling around it in two’s carrying machine guns, rows of bollards to stop car bombers and armed US marines on the entrance. Not a place to hang about.

alstone, im against the whole shebang, his parents are missionarys in zimbabwiee . he is getting his schooling in usa. they sent him to his parehts for Christmas. I would never send a kid out like that alone. he is simply too young to do that in my opinion. and he is at the age where he forgets some tgings sorta at the clumbsy age. but I guess my thoughts don't count in their minds. they haven't sent any word on whats going on as of yet

Once I went to the US embassy in Guatemala City to renew my passport, and saw much the same thing. (It was about a year after the takeover of the Tehran embassy, and they were a bit sensitive.) Once I got to a Marine and showed him my (U.S.) passport they scooted me right in and it was clear sailing. Hopefully things will go well for the kid, but I agree that 16 is kind of young for solo international travel.

I agree, 16 is a little young for internatioal travel by himself. And that's maybe too much responsibility to dump on a kid at one time.
